I have had three years of classroom experience so far. I spent my first two years teaching second grade and taught third grade during my third year. For both grades, I taught all core subjects. This year, I am transitioning into virtual education and will be teaching first grade. I'm looking forward to creating more technology-based materials for teaching!
I am an interesting mix of a teacher. I am traditional in a lot of ways...I think practice makes perfect, there is no substitute for working hard, and most of my lessons are spent walking around the room in discussion while scribbling notes and drawing pictures on the board to get my point across. However, I also am a HUGE fan of technology and how easily it can be incorporated into lessons. I like to be flexible and creative. I let the kids lead a lot of each lesson. To me, that's the best way to understand where they are and to guide them to learn at a higher level that THEY understand. My classroom has always been very organized and structured, but I'm also very spontaneous and like to let things happen naturally during instruction.
