Are the directions for your whack games only included with purchase? I would love to see a preview or a black and white freebie so that I could see how the game works and if it would work for my students before purchasing.

I created it using Notebook 10 for the Smartboard. I don't think it translates to anything else. On Monday, I'll change it to a different file format and re-upload it. Since this resource isn't strictly for Smartboard users, it would make sense to make it a word document. Hold tight and I'll get a new one posted as soon as I can. ~Stacy

Do you have Notebook installed on your computer? This product can only be opened on a computer that has SmartBoard components. Double check and if you're still having issues, email me at sjm1071@gmail.com. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I teach a 2/3 split class and currently only have one copy of the story. Will the activities be appropriate for both levels and can it been done as a read aloud?

Stacy Mickelson  (TpT Seller)
The grade level would certainly be appropriate, especially if you will be reading it aloud. However, you may find difficulty having the students complete the Comprehension Questions. Some of the questions require the students to go back and find the answer in the text and it can be tough if you only have one book. You can always modify the lesson, and complete the Comprehension Questions together or pass the book around and have different students locate the answer for the whole class.

Would this unit be appropriate for fifth grade? And what if I didn't have enough copies for every student?

The text itself could work for lower 5th graders, but some of the activities, can be considered more their level. I suggested that a copy for each pair of students could work, as well. Just have the kids partner read.

jhbelly re: Seasonal Attendance Keeper for Smart Boards
Hello! I would like to purchase your Smart Board Lunch set however I will need to change the options. For example we have Hot lunch, Cold lunch, fruit and veggie tray or salad. Would this be possible for me to change the text within the forms?

Stacy Mickelson  (TpT Seller)
Absolutely! Select the object by clicking on it. First, you need to unlock it. Right-click on your mouse and choose the "Locking" option, then click on "unlock". Now you need to ungroup the picture from the text. Right-click again and choose "Grouping", and select "ungroup". Now you can change the text by double-clicking on it. To regroup the text and the picture together, click and drag your mouse so that both objects have a box around them. Now you can group and lock by using the right-click shortcut. If you need more help, let me know! smickelson@dist399.net

Hi Donna!
Since it's a Smart File, it is editable. I bet you could clone the Hot Lunch choice, change the text to "Hot Lunch Choice #1" and "Hot Lunch Choice #2" You may need to size it down everything to make it fit, though. Let me know if you need help with the cloning, sizing and text-change.

I have downloaded this file and can not open it. I get a message that states the file was damaged and could not be repaired. I used two different computers and received the same message. I also downloaded the most current Adobe Reader and received the same message. Could you please email a copy of the file?
Thank you,

Christy,
I am so sorry about that. I was worried that might happen because the file-size is just (barely) under the limit. I'd be happy to e-mail you the file. Here is my e-mail: sjm1071@gmail.com. Contact me and I'll get it right out to you.

There is a mistake on the acorn suffix cootie catcher. The word quieter needs to be changed to quicker or the clue needs to match the word quieter. I can't change anything on the document. Can you change it and send it back to me?
My students absolutely loved this and wanted more! What a great idea!!
Thanks,

Scipi  (TpT Seller) re: Sight Words Quick Assessment - 2nd grade - FREEBIE!
I saw your posting on the Sellers Forum page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. Welcom to the TPT world. You will love it here.

I have a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. First, create a cover page which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers. Add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages. You might think about adding some color and clipart to your products. Buyers tend to like that.

Since you teach in the primary grades, I’d appreciate your input on my freebie listed below. I like to get suggestions and feedback from a variety of teachers.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 10 years. I taught 3 of those years in the Chicago area. I am now teaching in the very school that I attended as an elementary and high school student. It is exciting to be teaching the children of old classmates!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I integrate a lot of Differentiated Instruction in my daily lessons. I try to give my students as many choices in their final products as possible. I believe that all students learn differently and it is my job to give them the opportunity to perform at their best.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I completed my B.S. in Elementary Education at Northern Illinois University in December of 2001. I recently completed my M.A. in K-12 Technology Integration (online) with Nova Southeasern Univeristy in March 2010.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have two wonderful sons, Cameron and Benny. Cameron has just begun Kindergarten (in the same school I teach, so he is right down the hall from me all day) and Benny is in Early Step Preschool. (this is also held in the building I teach in) I have a wonderful husband named Eric and we are feverishly renovating a 100-year-old farmhouse just on the edge of town. Life is Great!
