I just purchased your Editable SmartBoard Call Number Lesson. I can't figure out how to get the files to open in Smartboard. The files are unzipped - I get a file for each page plus other files. If I click on one of the pages it opens a page in Internet Explorer that contains what looks like code for the SmartBoard Page. Any advice on how to open it? I can't wait to use it! Thanks!

I am so sorry that you are having trouble. I honestly do not know what the problem is. I downloaded the file myself directly from TpT and it worked fine. There a couple things that may be the problem. Is your SmartBoard software up to date? Also sometimes if there is a problem with the SmartBoard file not working correctly than you need to update flash. This has happened to several of my customers before. Here is a link to the Smart Notebook website about this. https://smarttech.com/us/Support/Browse+Support/Support+Documents/KB2/078165.aspx. If that doesn't work you can contact TpT technical support. They are wonderful and very knowledgeable. And usually very quick as well. You can email me at booklover223@gmail.com as well. Thank you.

Hi and thanks for what looks like something I'll love. I am having an issue and I am sure it's me being a Promethean newbie. I cannot get the little box with arms to load completely (I can't see what it is, a tv?). Do you have any idea what I could be doing wrong? It goes to 99.5% every time and stops.

Staying Cool in the Library
I'm sorry you're having trouble. Since this is a SmartBoard file and not a Promethean file, sometimes there is a problem with the interactive parts of the file not transferring over correctly. I think that is what you're seeing. I am not sure how to fix it unfortunately. I have never used a Promethean board before. You may want to submit a support ticket to TpT, their tech department is very good. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. I'll do my best to help you. First, it is a zip file. If you need help with these types of files TpT has a good set of instructions here: https://support.teacherspayteachers.com/What-a-ZIP-file-c46-a88.html. If there is a problem with the SmartBoard file not working correctly than you need to update flash. This has happened to several of my customers lately. Here is a link that will help you with that: http://www.teq.com/blog/2013/10/fix-using-flash-player-smart-board/#.Uot0USelGSo
If it's something else, you can contact TpT's technical support or send me an email at booklover223@gmail.com and I will see what I can do to help you. Thank you.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. The editable sections are locked into place and in a few sections grouped together. They have to be ungrouped before you can change them. In the zip file is a pdf document that gives detailed instructions on how to edit every slide. If you still need help please feel free to send me an email at booklover223@gmail.com. Hi! I purchased your Dewey Decimal System Intro Smartboard Lesson, and it won't work. I have a Smartboard, I have the Smartboard software, and it will show me the pink/red background and the plain text, but none of the extras will work where students can answer questions and what-not, which was the whole point of it for me. How can this be fixed? Thank you for your time!

I am sorry you are having trouble with the file. I know it's very frustrating. Unfortunately, I am not sure what the problem is, I have sold this product almost 50 times and have never had anyone not be able to open it. I jut downloaded the file from the site this morning and it worked fine for me. What version of Smart Notebook do you have? Maybe it needs updated? I wish I had an easy answer for you. My suggestion is to send in a support ticket to TpT. They have a wonderful support team and received questions like this all the time. They are usually very quick with their responses as well. Hopefully they will be able to figure it out for you. If you need to contact me again, please do so. My email is booklover223@gmail.com. Again I'm sorry you are having trouble. Thank you.

I purchased the Dewey Decimal System Introduction SmartBoard Lesson and I actually use ActivInspire software. Everything transferred except for the quizzes. Is it possible for you to send those to me separately so I can embed them? I looked at the previous comments and used the website below to view and they look great, but I would really like to use them in ActivInspire.

Thanks!!!

I can send them to you, no problem. What format would you need them in? A word document or a pdf? The questions are multiple choice and the students select an answer so it's interactive so that feature wouldn't be included. Maybe Activinspire will allow you to do this? I've never used it before. Why don't you send me an email and we can figure it all out? My email is booklover223@gmail.com. Thank you!

Can you tell me how many pages are in the SmartBoard lesson on Introduction to Literary Genres?

Thank you.
September 7, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Staying Cool in the Library
There are a total of 12 slides. The preview shows only a few of the slides. There are 8 question slides where students read a paragraph and decide what genre it is, only 2 are shown. And there is a slide for students to match the nonfiction genre to it's definition. The preview only shows the slide for the fiction genres.

This is a SmartBoard file, that is what I use at my school. I have read that Activiboard can convert SmartBoard files to be used on an Activiboard but some interactivity may be lost. And I have not done this myself, not sure how well it works. Smart Notebook offers a web version of it's software where you can open a SmartBoard file in your web browser. I had a customer use this with one of my files a couple of weeks ago. When I tried it, the graphics lost a little bit of resolution but other than that it was fine. The address is: http://express.smarttech.com/?url#. Not sure if one of those options would help or not.

Is this product editable? My call numbers are different from yours and I would want to customize it. Thanks.
August 7, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Staying Cool in the Library
I was worried about that when I made this lesson. I have the same problem with some products that I use, the call numbers aren't the same as the way we do them.
But to answer your question, it is editable mostly (graphics can't be changed due to copyright.) The text explaining the parts of the call number can be changed easily. Just unlock the text box and type in what you want But the call numbers themselves that are on the bookshelves and the spines of the books would have to be deleted and new ones added.
For example, I created a rectangle and typed in the call number in publisher and then saved it as an image and inserted it into the Smartboard file. So you could unlock the image and delete it and add a new one, but it would take a little bit of work. For the couple interactive slides where students sort the call numbers I had to have an image to insert into the "game" which is why I did it this way. Does that make sense? I can create an editable version and have it up in a matter of hours. Would you be interested in this? If you want to email me at booklover223@gmail.com and let me know that would be great. You can't reply to this answer. Sorry I wrote so much! Just trying to explain it clearly. Thanks.

Hello. I am sorry that you are having trouble. This is a SmartBoard file and not an ActivInspire file which is why it won't work. I did some research and think that you can import a SmartBoard file into your ActivInspire program. I have two pages for you to look at that tell how to do this. The first is a blog post and the second is a pdf document that looks like a manual for Activinspire. I hope this helps. Let me know if this works and if not I'll see what else I can do. Thank you!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am an elementary librarian/media specialist. I have worked in the same school for 13 years. I teach 30 classes a week in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As an elementary librarian on a fixed schedule I do not have a lot of time with my students each week. My goal is to create fun, creative activities and lessons that also teach the objectives I want the students to learn. My lessons typically can be taught in 20-25 minutes. I teach in Virginia and we have not adopted the Common Core standards so my lessons and activities are not aligned with the CC. However I do plan on adding these standards soon since so many other states do follow these.
