Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for sharing a great activity with us! I will try it for sure with my fifth grade students. I am wondering about your instructions, however. Could you clarify step #3 in your directions? I have copied them below:

List 1 fraction showing the total number of hearts in the box as the numerator, and the total number of each color as the denominator.

Shouldn't that be the reverse, that the total number of hearts should be the denominator and the total number of each color the numerator?
