I've been posting each pack the month before it's needed, so at the end of May I will have June's posted. There isn't a single "test" type assessment, but the flip books, informative writing, and What's Hatching project at the end of the unit all serve as formative assessment where the students have to communicate their understanding of content in this unit through writing. Hey! I love this packet. I have written three weeks of lesson plans from it and was able to use so much of it. Thanks for everything! I really hate to ask this, but I was wondering if there was ANY way you might be able to create another 'expert' for the research reports. I purchased the Scholastic Science Vocabulary Readers and they have 5 different books about wild weather. They include all of your weather experts except they also have a book for lightning. I love the idea of letting them draw a card for picking groups and maybe wearing them as necklaces. I would love to have a Lightning Expert one if you could do that. If not, it is NO big deal. Just thought I'd ask! I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Hi Hershey Chick! I have a wide range of readers in my 1/2nd combo class too. For this reason, the challenge is specifically designed to be used with any books that the kids select or that you would like them to read. There are 25 questions that pertain to fiction books and 25 questions that pertain to non-fiction books, but none of the questions are specific to any one title. So the nice thing is every kid can complete their challenge while still reading books that are just right for them and on their personal interest/reading level! :)

Once you download the zip file, it can be found as a folder in the "downloads" section of your computer. From there you should be able to double click and open it directly. If you do not find the file in the downloads section of your computer, please e-mail me at Fallingintofirst@gmail.com. I want to make sure you are able to access this product as soon as possible! Hey Stephanie! I love the Owl n' Dots Classroom pack! My only issue is when I downloaded it the name plates don't have lines in the center, it looks more like a blur. This might be because I have a MacBook but is there any way to fix it? I love the name plates and it's part of the reason I purchased this kit :) Thanks so much!

I'm so happy you love the set!! I do believe the issue you are having has to do with your Mac but the good news is, there is an easy fix :) On a MAC or PC, install the latest version of ADOBE READER. Then, open the file with ADOBE READER. On a MAC, make sure to "Open With" ADOBE READER and NOT Preview. (Here is a link to a guide from Erica Bohrer, one of TPT's top sellers, with a screen shot image detailing how to open the file in Adobe when using a Mac:

So my first recommendation would be to print out one of the name tags and see if they print normally. I purchased the OwlnDots Classroom Pack and everything in it looks ok except the schedule cards. They have a place to put the time but there are no owls on them. Dots are there but no cute owls beside the time slot. : (

Thanks so much for your purchase! There are a few pieces in this set that just feature the dots and not the owls. I included samples of everything in this set in the product preview so that people could see what each piece looked like and what the different options were if there was more than one. The reason I didn't include any owls on the schedule cards with the clocks is I think it will look too crowded. However, if you'd like I can add a set of schedule cards with the matching owls featured in place of the clocks. This way you would be able to choose from schedule cards with clocks, owls, or just the dots. If that is something you would like to see added please let me know and I will update the product to include a set of owl schedule cards that you can re-download. (Fallingintofirst@gmail.com)

I love your Skippy Count Challenge! This will be a great motivator for my kiddos and exactly what I have been looking for. We use Saxon Math at my school and we require kids to skip count a number 12 times, instead of 10 times. (ex. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24). Is there any chance your posters and flash cards could include the two extra numbers or if I could get a version that could be edited? Thanks! Marisa

I have been teaching for 4 years now in Colorado. I taught 1st grade for the first three years and now I'm teaching a 1st/2nd grade combo class. I love teaching in the primary grades!!
