I have 4 years experience in three different states... Virginia, Florida, and Georgia (currently). I have only taught 5th grade, and honestly want to stay at this level for as far as I can see.
I am a believer in readers and writers workshop with old school spins. I believe teaching and life are 100% about relationships, so I make it a point to get to know each of the 50 kids I teach each year. How else can we make a difference if we do not know our students?
I have received awards only from my students. In fact, I just received an award for Best Language Arts Teacher Ever in the State of Georgia. Now, this was given to me by a current student on a piece of construction paper with a couple of misspelled words, so I am not sure that amounts to anything. My desire is to be county teacher of the year, but only after I am teacher of the year to each of the 50 I teach every year.
I graduated from Liberty University in 2003 certified to teach K-8. Now, I am plugging away at a masters in reading.
I am happily married to a beautiful wife, Stacey, and father to a beautiful daughter, Sadie. I often tell my wife that I have a mistress. She calls me often... In fact, that is probably her buzzing on the cell as I write this. Her name, Sallie Mae... and she is a gold digger who only wants me for my money. Student loans are the devil, and I can only hope that this helps me put a tiny dent in them. (That's a huge them, too!)
