I have taught English/Language Arts at the high school level for twenty-two years. I also teach AVID. I train teachers in districts throughout California in differentiated instruction, focusing on tiered assignments, project menus, and flexible grouping. I have been asked to write a book for a national publishing company, and I am a ticketed presenter for the ASCD conference.
I mix direct instruction with student-centered exploration. I also try to use Marzano's "Best Practices" and focus on critical thinking skill development, critical reading skill development, writing, and speech.
