I have just purchased your '25 Fun Greetings' PPT and have a question that I hope doesn't make me sound tonta.

What does 'Chaito, pescadito' mean? I know the fish part but not the first word.

Gracias de antemano,

Ha! No, your question doesn't make you sound tonta! It's a silly phrase that comes from ciao, or Spanish chao, so it means "little good-bye, little fish".

Thanks for your purchase. I hope that your students have fun with the phrases and that you have a great school year! Sue

The song is sung to the tune of One Little, Two Little...
Here's a link with one of the many versions of the song:https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=one+little+two+little+three+little+indians

It's good to sing the song slowly at first and then gradually get faster. Students enjoy seeing how fast they can sing it after awhile!

I printed the Spanish-speaking countries (shouldn't there be an apostrophe edit - I meant "hyphen" (so much for muti-tasking(!))[?]) bookmarks. Why did you put the capital first? Isn't it typical to put the country and then the capital? I actually had a few students who were confused!

I also expected these to be in Spanish since most of your stuff is (they are very small and I did not actually read them before printing)! Could you make a set in Spanish, please?

Thanks for responding.

Sue Summers  (TpT Seller)
Hi Debby,
No, an apostrophe isn't necessary. I don't think there's a hard, fast rule for the order of countries and capitals. I have my students learn the country and capital together, with the capital first. I suppose it's a matter of personal preference. I've used these bookmarks in their current format for many years and never really thought about it before.

I made the bookmarks in English for a couple reasons. For one, the English countries and capitals are very similar to the Spanish names; the pronunciation is what changes the most. Secondly, I want the bookmarks to be useful to non-Spanish courses such as social studies, history, and geography.

I hope this helps, Debby.

Hello Senora Summers, I was just checking out what sort of mat'ls are available in Spanish...and I found you...you have a huge store...I'm just starting mine...But I noticed, and would only do this since I would appreciate it if I had an error on a cover page, but doesn't the word Preterite have an e on it? In my Eng. dictionary it does...however, maybe yours is an American Eng. dict. and it makes a difference...Anyhow, I see on your title page, it says, Spanish preterit Skit...I thought Preterite has an e. I adore Spanish and wish mine were better, but I don't often get the chance to use it.

Hi Susan,

Both spellings are used. I learned it this way in high school and it's the way my undergrad and graduate professors in Spain spelled it so I've just always written preterit. To me, that spelling matches the pronunciation better, but of course English pronunciation does all kinds of weird things. (: One of the things I love about Spanish is that it's a phonetic language and the spelling and pronunciation are so much easier than many other languages. I believe if you look at other sources, you'll find that both spellings are acceptable. Good luck with your store! Let me know if you have any questions about getting it up and running. Sue

The next page shows vocab with pictures and then there are several pages pages that only load to 99.5% again. There is one page that is functional in the middle that has Santa with questions and it tells the students to circle the correct response. Then more pages that won't load. I really like these cards except for the words "la" and "el" included before the name of the object. I teach pk and think it might confuse some of the students (identifying initial sounds).

Hi! I just added a word wall set that excludes the definite articles. Thanks for contacting me with the suggestion! Sue

Hi Sue,
I am wondering if this activity contains a word bank with the possible adjectives to use for describing people's personality/physical traits. I am also wondering if it has any practice sheet which reviews adjective agreement. I have purchased your other activities which practice describing hair/eye color with tener. Just checking to make sure this is not a repeat of what I already have of yours.
Thank you. Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

No, a word bank is not included, nor does it include a practice sheet to review adjective agreement. There are so many possible adjectives that could be used to describe personalities and appearances that it didn't seem practical to include one. There are sample sentences for each of the requirements, however. The sentences are more opened ended than the tener assignment that you're describing, I think, so it shouldn't be a repeat. I hope this helps and that you're having a great school year so far! Sue

Hi, ProfeBerg, I'm so happy to read such a nice email first thing on a Monday morning - thank you so much! It's really nice to hear that you find my materials helpful. I've thought about bundling everything together but just haven't done it yet. I am planning on bundling a few more smaller units as time permits, however. Thanks again for such a nice compliment. I have high hopes for a great week and I hope you have one, too! Sue

Hi, Sue! I'm new to TPT and your stuff looks great! I know that teachers take ideas from everywhere but is your stuff your creation or a mix of different sources? Thank you for your time! (Love your pinterest boards!)

Hi Ines,

I certainly get ideas from a mix of things that I see, read about, hear, etc. but most of my products are things that I've made and modified over the years as I've needed things for my own classroom. I teach 8th graders during the school year and both elementary and high school students during the summer so I have materials for all ages. Also, I get brainstorms at weird times which often result in some of my favorite materials for my own classroom and best sellers on TpT.

Thanks so much for your note. I'm glad you like my materials and pinterest boards, and I hope you're having a great school year so far!

Hi Sue,

I just downloaded your Spanish Autobiography project. I would like to change the order of the slides so that the students talk about the present, then their routine, followed by the past and the future. Your slide indicates that you would like to grant permission before any changes are made. Do I have your permission.

Hola,
I have an ENO board in my classroom that works like a Smartboard. Not sure if you are familiar with this. However, I am wondering what program you used to create this activity. Perhaps it will work on my type of board as well.

Hi Jennifer - I did a quick search and found this regarding ENO boards: "The intelligence of the boards are driver based, so once you install the driver on a PC or Mac and attach or enable a bluetooth interface, you can use any software that is designed for use with interactive whiteboards (including Smart Technology’s Notebook software!)." This is the link to the site: http://www.emergingedtech.com/2009/11/polyvision-eno-whiteboards-a-great-alternative-to-the-smart-board/. I hope this helps! Sue

Hi Emily - In order to get the codes to work, you should hold down the Alt key and then type the numbers on the keypad. That should work. Enjoy! Sue

Thank you so much for your offer to try! I have the 1st graders for only 1/2 hour a week. I was hoping to find something to use beginning in September but I would be willing to wait for something appropriate. Our last song, used for 20 years, had difficult wording and no music to go with it. The Spanish teacher just "knew" the melody. I, on the other hand, can't sing at all...! I found a 3 minute song on www.youtube that had the lyrics on the screen as the song was sung/played, but the lyrics never repeated, so it would be a lot to learn. I'd be willing to pay $5.00??? ...actually, I'd pay just about anything not to have to sing without music again as we did last year. I love following your work. Just let me know. Thanks again, Patti

Hi Patti,

This sounds like a fun endeavor for me. I'm leaving tomorrow for a 2 week vacation with my family so I won't be able to get to it until after I return and settle in, although I can certainly think about it while we're traveling. I'll touch base when I return and see what I can come up with. Feel free to check back with me in about 3-4 weeks if you haven't heard from me! Enjoy the rest of the summer and I'll be in touch! Sue

Hi.I need a Spanish song with music and lyrics for a La Posada celebration for English speaking first graders. We go from classroom to classroom singing and asking if there is any room at the inn. I can't sing at all and the previously used song is difficult to sing and the music was evidently lost. Please help!

Hi! When will you need this song? I don't have anything currently, but I could certainly come up with something if you don't have an immediate need. I enjoy creating new materials and this sounds like a fun project that would benefit many. Please let me know! Sue
