I was going to e-mail you some essay questions, but I am retired now, and I just couldn't find them! I suppose I should have added them, but I created this test for my department as a "bubble sheet" test to ascertain that students did do their summer reading. I had some essay questions for those who preferred that kind of test, but few takers.

I can't really disagree with that, but in the write-up I did tell potential buyers exactly how many questions and what type of questions there were that comprised each test. I also explained that the tests were only to verify independent reading. I am sorry you misinterpreted.

Thank you! I shared it with the other two ninth grade teachers and we all enjoyed using it. Five words a week allows the students to make the words their own rather than just memorizing and regurgitating definitions for tests. I appreciate your taking time to comment.

Some purchasers give low marks in creativity even though I explain that it is designed to basically test if the novel is being read independently. Of course, the essay questions do offer some creative choices. I'm glad it was of help to you!

I needed to find a test on this novel quickly, so thought this one may be good. This test is OK, but it is very basic and simplistic. Since it was pretty expensive, I was expecting a little more depth. Many of the questions are very easy and not ones that promote thought, but rather mainly assesses the accuracy of facts like "Peeta's parents run and own (a bakery)" Instead of something like "Why does Katniss feel a kinship with the Avox girl with the red hair?" I'm more concerned about my students making connections, etc. than just knowing facts. I feel like it was a waste of money, as I had to create my own test and was only able to use some of it.

Question 1. was incorrectly answered on the key. Also, question 13 was misleading, so I reworked it. Grandpa did not cover Granny's coffin with roses: he made blankets of her roses to line the grave itself, and he put a pillow sham (small rose blanket) under her head while she was in the coffin before the burial.

Great multiple choice tests for a grade 10 applied level class! I turned them into two major evaluations, rather than four smaller ones. Covering 100 pages per test rather than 50 made it more challenging for them--but still very do-able.

The 30 bubble sheet questions are mostly recall--a summer reading exam, but there are also three critical thinking essay questions that are more higher order thinking. The test is designed like our PA state PSSA; the questions are not outright simplistic, but some recall and the essay questions are more open ended. If you are looking strictly for higher order thinking, this is probably not what you are looking for. I hope this helps.

It gives students great insight into the behavior and thinking of Christopher, the protagonist of the novel. Students are given several web sites about Asperger's Syndrome and asked to create a chart similar to the one shown in the preview. The preview chart is included for students to use as a template.
