We began our teaching careers volunteering at public schools in Puebla, Mexico and Costa Rica. Upon returning to the United States, we began teaching high school Spanish. Our classes are made up of juniors and seniors. We also taught some continuing education classes to adults at a local community college.
We use a lot of music, movement, and mingle activities. We teach on the block schedule, so 90 minutes is a long time for teenagers to sit still. We try to have at least one activity per class that allows students to move. Games in class keep learning fun!
