HI. Sorry you did not see the email before but I sent you a message back on April 29th. You need Notebook software to open a Notebook file. It is free at Smarttech.com OR you can go to http://express.smarttech.com/# and open it online and view it on your board. It is like needing Microsoft Word to open a doc. With a Promethean board you do no have Notebook software. Notebook software is what a SmartBoard uses to run files. I hope this helps. Sue

I would be happy to help. :) The first year I sold items here I had a sellers account which is free. I wanted to see how my Store would do before I paid to join. You could start there and see how your lessons sell. This is such a great place to share lessons and you get to try it risk free. The second year I upgraded to a premium account which is $59.95. The difference is the split of how much you make on each item. Because of copyright on graphics i use Microsoft graphics which are free and TeachersPayTeachers said these graphics are ok to use on things we sell. Here is the link http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/images/
I have also bought some graphics from TPT sellers at reasonable prices because most allow you to use them on items you sell. They have all price ranges. From the Pond has some cute graphics priced reasonably. I use Microsoft Word to design lessons, then save them as PDFs to sell. I use Notebook software to make the SmartBoard files. I have not invested in a publishing package. You can start making lessons and posting them with just a computer really. You do not need to have a big expense to get started. I do love making these lessons and am using them in my own classroom. I know I could be making more lessons if I was not teaching Kindergarten full time. For now this is a part time thing and I really have fun making them and sharing and getting feed back from other teachers from all over. Hi! That is a very good question. :) We use Lucy Calkins Workshop model. Our students spend a lot of time writing 'Small Moments' stories from their own personal experiences/lives so they do not have prompts that they have to respond to. We do a few prompts during the year but mostly they are generating their own stories from their own ideas. This file contains the monthly journal covers I use (in both black and white) along with the different styles of writing paper we use as the students progress. We staple the covers and the pages together to make individual monthly journals for each student. So, sorry no prompts. I hope this helps. Thanks for the interest in my product. It would be so great to have a list of the sight words that go with these stories. You talk about it but there is no list. It would be awesome also to have those words made up in cards to send home to use as flash cards. I have all three sets of your stories and love them very much. However, the first set you provide a list but it doesn't seem to match the stories. I do want you to know that these stories are read at home and at school and 1/2 half of my class can read all of set 1! Thanks so much for making readers out of my students!

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. The first set of stories contains the first 25 Fry sight words listed at the end of the file and more. Because our district does not use the Fry list I also added the words that our district expects. (that, like, can, see, my, the, look, his) So your are right, the Set 1 file has more than the first 25 words. Someone asked me to make the other two sets and I only put the second 50 word list on the 3rd set because the Fry list can be printed for free online. I think it is a great idea to have flash cards to go with each set. I am always looking for what to make next that teachers would find useful. I love your idea and will make a set of flash cards to go with these stories. Thanks so much for the idea and purchasing my product. I love getting suggestions and feedback. I use these stories with my class too and send them home for students to practice. I think my student's parents would love flash cards for each set too. I will work on making some. :) Also I will include a word list with each set of flash cards. :)

Hi, I'm sorry that happened. The file is interactive where kids drag images to complete the pages so you would probably not want to print the pages. What you can do is go to the Smarttech web site and open the file and the kids can play it on the computer. You don't need a SmartBoard. When you go to to the Smarttech web page it has a big button that says "Open an Existing Notebook File" . You can then open the file you just downloaded. Here is the website address:

Can the sight words in this be changed? As with most of us, I have a list of priority words that I am pressured to focus on. My class is tested on these words and the results are a portion of my evaluation. I am always looking for additional ways to assure I have the words solidly covered. Then I can use the activities to work on all the other words out there!

I would try opening it on some one elses computer. YOu could email the file to them or use a flash drive to move it to their computer. It is a Word document. Also you should be able to try and download it again from TeachersPay Teachers incase something happened during the down loading process. Also I am always willing to send you the file through email if these suggestions do not work. You would just have to post your email here for me. HI, Thanks for purchasing my product. You purchased a file to use with a SmartBoard. It uses Notebook software to open and run. The software is free to download here: http://smarttech.com/us/Support/Browse+Support/Download+Software
However if you do not have a Smartboard you will not be able to use the interactive parts with your class. In that case you will probably want to contact TeachersPayTeachers and they will cancel your order. Hi Gisela. Sorry you are having trouble. I sell two of these files. One for the SmartBoard which opens with Notebook software and one that is a Microsoft Word Document and you need Word to Open. It is not a PDF file that would open in Adobe Acrobat. Which one did you buy and do you have the right software to open it. I want to help you so you can use it because my students love stamping sight words and I think your kids will too. Also I want you to have purchase a product you can use. :-)

Thanks for the inquiry. Yes. All the word families are in a house like the one pictured. About 9 of the 36 families do not have pictures on them as the words did not lend themselves to pictures. The other houses all have some pictures on them. Words like 'let' and 'get' are harder to illustrated and are not illustrated. I hope this helps. I just started doing these with my class this week and they love them.

Hi, thanks for your inquiry. The list is a combination of Dolch and Frye words. Lots overlap because the most common 100 words is pretty much the same. Since I teach I understand that you need to teach specifically from the Dolch list if that is what your school uses for assessments. So all the Dolch words are not included in this file.

Hi. Thanks for inquiring about my Smartboard file. We do not have Promethean boards at my school but I Googled the answer to your question and it said that the Promethean board software will convert the Notebook file.
Here is what it said:
Promethean ActivBoard software can open and convert Notebook to ActivStudio/ActivInspire as well as Notebook can convert ActivStudio/ActivInspire to Notebook. Text and images should transfer just fine.

Hi, I do not think that you will want the file in another form. If you are not using it with a Smartboard it won't be the same because it is interactive and the children move parts around on the Smartboard to play complete the pages. Is there any other file I have for sale that you would like instead? I would be willing to sent you another file that you could use to replace it. I do want you to have something you can use. I sell other Notebook files so please read the description to make sure you do not pick another Notebook file. Let me know what you think.
