I have been teaching Kindergarten for 7 years now, and I love every minute of it. Even though most days are challenging, it's never the same as the day before. I love to watch the sparkle in the eyes of my kiddos when they learn something new!
I have a very laid back style. I've very open-ended and creative, and avoid worksheets as much as possible. We do work stations following Debbie Diller's methods, and I teach guided reading following Beverly Tyner's methods. For writing I take on Lucy Calkin's writer's workshop ideas. As for math, I love to create my own activities, and rarely open our math series. Hands-on is the way to go! I love to try new things and am always on the lookout to expand my knowledge of best practices.

I have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. A BS and MS in Elementary Education. I attended a traditional Montessori school from pre-school through 5th grade, which I think encourages my hands-on teaching techniques.
I have 2 awesome kids! My son is deaf, and my daughter has ADHD. It adds to my experience in the classroom.
