Thanks for this purchase - I can't wait to use it! Do you have the students choose any city on the map they want to start? Or should they start from the city they live in? Do they have an ending destination in mind, which they are "heading towards" each day?

I really love your character report card, and I have used it in my classroom already. I have been trying to download it again and it is cutting part of it off. I would really love to be able to have another copy of this report card. How can I get it again?

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done! I have a couple of suggestions that might help to better market this product. First add some clipart. Buyers like color as do students. Also, create a cover page which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail.

I hope you will have time to rate one of my freebies listed below.

Tammy,
I bought your first set of travel cards, but there doesn't appear to be a set of instructions with it. Is there a place where I can get information on set up, daily directions, etc.?

Here's how I've done it with my class using a crate to keep it all organized. 1) Laminate US maps for each kid. 2) Kids use a vis-a-vis pen on the laminated US map and draw a route to their destination. 3) Explain and model to kids how to use an expense ledger (checkbook) 4) As a whole class, practice doing a travel card or 2 together. (Modify the cards as needed. For example, you can always tell kids not to worry about calculating the tax on the hotel cost.) 5) Give each kid a folder that includes an expense ledger (checkbook), and either a spiral notebook or make a small booklet for them to use as a journal.) They can keep their laminated map in the folder. 6) You can have kids randomly choose a card or you can have them go in order. Each travel card represents one day of traveling. 7) You'll need to decide how you want kids to figure the mileage. Right now, I have my kids estimating mileage based on the mileage chart on the US map. They use a string to measure and estimate. If you want them to be precise, you could have them use an actual road atlas. I hope this helps to get things started. If you need more help, please let me know. Tammy

I tried to download your featured freebie, but it comes up as costing $5.00. I eventually found the free item by looking at all of your products. You might want to fix this so other buyers to your store aren't disappointed.

I have wanted to implement something new and fresh in my classroom and this looks great! How often do the students choose a trip card? Do they get time in the classroom to work on this... like in a center?

Sometimes I've had my whole class do Trip Planners and have set aside time to work on it. Other times I've had kids who finish their work early, do Trip Planners. My 5th graders usually finished 1 (or sometimes 2) trip cards in a 45 minute block.

Here's how I've done it with my class using a crate to keep it all organized. 1) Laminate US maps for each kid. 2) Kids use a vis-a-vis pen and choose a route to their destination. 3) Explain to kids how to use an expense ledger (checkbook) 4) As a whole class, practice doing a travel card or 2 together. Hi Tammy,

How do you have students plan their trip? Do they give a written description, highlight a map, etc? I am excited to give this a try!
