Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback. I have made the corrections to the worksheet you suggested and have reuploaded the product with full revisions. I have a partner who edits all my work for me, and after seeing your comments, he surmises that he did not get around to editing this one before I uploaded it. As well, I can understand being upset thinking that you can't make modifications to the document, but I never lock any of my documents so that they are fully editable by other teachers. I only think that's fair. When things get uploaded by sellers onto TPT, sometimes they get converted to read only (I am not sure why but it has happened before). It is easy to get around this problem after you download the product by using the "Save As" button to create a new document for yourself which should be fully editable.

Thanks for addressing this. Since I like to make my worksheets so that there are subheadings for the types of animals/plants or ecosystems discussed, sometimes I will ensure that I keep questions about one animal/plant or ecosystem under its heading even if the video episode bounces around between different animals/plants or ecosystems. This makes it easier for the students to study and remember the relevant organisms afterwards.

Thank you for addressing this point. My style of making PowerPoints is different than that of many other teachers. I often write out statements and then leave _________ blanks for terms that will come up with the next click. I designed this method to keep students more engaged and simply put - it really works well. You are correct, it is easier to have entire sentences or paragraphs come up on only one click, but students often find this just a lot of writing to copy down without being able to absorb the important parts bit by bit.
I see that you gave me 4.0 out of 4.0 for all the criteria except for practicality for which you gave a 2.5 out of 4.0. I notice that you also have not purchased the PowerPoint Worksheet that goes with this product. If you paired the two products together simultaneously, you will find that the timing of the PowerPoint is pretty accurate if you want students to absorb the information and copy it down on the worksheet.
I invite you to try this PowerPoint again with your class using the PowerPoint Worksheet at the same time, and then let me know how it goes. I'm pretty confident that it will be well received as it is in my classes. If you email me I will email you the Worksheet for free even though it isn't a free item on TPT. :)

Thank you for a great thorough lesson appropriate for my Environmental Vocational sophomore class! I think the connection between the water cycle and global warming/human impact was engaging for my students! I am going to add some hands on activities to bring some concepts (like heat absorption and temperature/density) full circle! Thanks for the robust lesson and the inspiration!

Thanks for your advice and comments. I just started making this blog today, and trying to understand the ins and outs of the website. I thought it would be an interesting way to showcase items and I would like to post other resources on the side as well. All in good time I hope. I don't even own a cell phone so all this tech stuff is on a steep learning curve for me this past year - which is about how long I've been doing power points.
How to make powerpoint videos:
1) When saving your completed powerpoint, save it as a Windows Media Video instead of powerpoint format - rename it with "Video" at the end for clarity (this is optional)
2) When the video is finished (which takes a bit of time depending on how big your powerpoint file is) you can either upload it onto youtube or....
3) Use any sort of video editor (I just use Windows Live Movie Maker which comes with windows) and add music to it and save it again with the song as a soundtrack (this takes time).

Hey Teaching Treasures, I think there are banner making programs or websites that I looked into initially, but I had trouble using them, so I just decided to do it this way:
The Steps:
1) Find out the size of the banner allowed on TPT.
2) Create one to the correct size on PowerPoint.
3) Do a screen capture of the banner. There's a capture program that I love called !Quick Capture which you can download for free from this site: http://www.etrusoft.com/ . When you open the !QuickCapture Program a) Click "Capture" b) Click "Rectangle". c) Outline the banner you want to capture d) save it to your computer.
4) Upload the saved banner on the TPT banner upload page.

I checked all my hyperlinks (Magic school bus, drought, flood, polar bear videos etc.). They all work.
Just in case you're having problems with how to link to the videos, this is what you have to do:
1) You must play the power point in Slide Show Mode.
2) When the video reel icon appears you hover your cursor over the icon and the arrow of the cursor will turn into a pointing finger. When this happens, single left click onto the icon, and this should cause a YouTube page to pop up. This page will contain the video.

I can help with this. If you open the power point file and go to the "Slide Show" tab, you will see that the "Use Timings" box is checked off. Uncheck that and the power point should be under your own control. Let me know if you need more help with this.

I have had 4 other buyers purchase this item before without any indication that it wasn´t downloading. This makes me suspect that the site might be off somehow. I urge you to try again tomorrow. If it still doesn´t work, then please give me your email, I will try to email it to you tomorrow. However, since it is large file and I am currently travelling in Ecuador, I might not be able to succeed in this transfer until I find a place that is able to transfer the file quickly enough. So far the internet places I´ve been to have been very slow. If I succeed in reuploading the file (also depends on internet speed) I will inform you that you can try to reupload it from the TPT site again. Hope this helps.

Some just from MS office and powerpoint's clipart data base (don't underestimate how much they have). Some from the science photo library website and the rest just searching online or I've even drawn some and scanned them in myself, or have used the MS word or powerpoint to make images using their drawing tools.
What I do after that is I usually do some editing in adobe photoshop so that I only get the part of the diagram I want. For example, I almost never show diagrams that are prelabelled. If I find a perfect diagram, but it has labels on it, then I'll spend a lot of time photoediting it until the labels are gone. I also like to remove the backgrounds from my images to make them transparent and that I also takes some work with photoshop. I would say that over 50% of the time I spend on any given powerpoint is spent on finding, selecting, and photoediting images.
Unfortunately there hasn't been one go to place for EXACTLY what I need. I just have to spend lots of effort making what I need. Luckily for me, I like photoediting and making materials.
I think it's key to get good clear visuals for exactly what you want so I would say that

I teach fifth grade science. We classify matter, study atoms, molecules, elements, compounds, mixtures, mass, weight, law of conservation of mass, physical/chemical changes, physical/chemical properties. Can you help bundle something that will help me teach this? It's hard for me to understand it myself. Thanks

I teach grade 9 science, and the bundle on classifying matter I put up only deals with that. I do not currently have up any bundles that include conservation of mass, physical or chemical change. However, I do have a bundle (or individual items not bundled) on physical and chemical properties. I will probably have some other things up during the summer, but they will focus mostly on the Gr.11 and Gr.12 Biology curriculum.
I am assuming you are new to teaching these topics or new to teaching itself. So I wish you luck in understanding and teaching this stuff.

Tang, I paid and downloaded, but cannot open the files. I unzipped them, but no luck. It says "the Water Cycle Bundle cannot be opened because there are problems with the content". Can you help? I'm going to try again tomorrow at school. I have Windows 7 and Word 2007, so I don't know if that's the problem or not. Thanks

That's odd, I've had over a dozen buyers and no one has messaged me about any problems with the zip file, and I haven't reposted it since I created the original zip file. For the power point I used Power Point 2010, but saved it in 1997-2003 format which is a .ppt document. Buy the way, the power point itself is a freebie, so you can download that from my store directed. The zip file includes the power point and all the other associated files which I made using Word 2003. I ask that you try to redownload and try to unzip again using a different computer. Please let me know if it works out. If this doesn't work, I'll make sure that I get your product to you in another way.
By the way, I use a P.C. and not a Mac. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I ran the power point and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much - it really is a great resource and I know my kids will love it...I was viewing each slide as a stand alone that is why the links did not work...thanks again for the tips...
