Since I have taught mostly jr. high and middle school settings, I prefer a real-world or simulation approach. Because I have to get my students ready for a more traditional high school, I also teach them how to take notes from book and lecture.
When a student looked and me finally realizing that all the talking teachers do during class relates to the homework and the tests.
