Do you have a Smartboard? The others bought it but did not have a Smartboard or the Smartboard program.
The Smartboard Rocks and Minerals is designed to be interactive and will lose it's interactive qualities if it is exported as a powerpoint.
I will send you the file as a PPT, but it will not be interactive. I am working on transfering the whole file to PPT and rearranging/changing things so it is desirable as a PPT as well. I will email you the exported one now and the new one when it is finished, which should be by this weekend.

Hi! Thank you for your inquiry. This unit does not address the subtraction of mixed numbers. The highest the unit goes is adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. However, it is an excellent resource for giving students a solid understanding of fractions before that point.

You will need Notebook to open it. I just downloaded it to test it and I was able to open it. I have sold 39 of these and no one has mentioned that they couldn't open it, so you should be able to.

I would be interested in using some of your materials on my website universalhomeschool.com (this website is due to be released in August 2011). The site will mainly focus on teaching videos for children who are being homeschooled, or need the extra help. We will offer math, reading and writing. I started building this site about a year ago and during this time I have been creating videos, quizzes, worksheets and lesson plans. I originally wanted a site that would be available for free to parents and teachers. Unfortunately because of the cost of the hosting, development, materials, and other overheads having a free site would be impossible so I will be charging a yearly fee to have access to the site. This will be anywhere between $30 and $50.
Therefore I am asking you for permission to use your work on my website. I will pay for your materials, give you the credit, create a link to your page and give you free membership.

Though, with low third graders, you will probably only use 80% of the Unit because I designed it for 3rd through 5th grade. Please let me know how it turns out! My expertise is in beginning reading/phonics/word study. I am a reading specialist and studied under renowned professors Shane Templeton and Donald Bear. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. Five years ago I wrote a grant for a SMARTboard and received two for our school. Then, I entered the SMART Teacher content challenge contest and was the North American Primary Winner! I won a fabulous trip to London which was incredible. What a city! SMARTtech is an amazing company with amazing people and using their product has changed my life.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I would describe my teaching style as thorough. I like to find a student's exact Zone of Proximal Development through good assessments and questioning. One of the easiest indicators of this is a good word study test. I like the assessments in Word Journeys by Kathy Ganske. I then use the word sorts from Words Their Way to teach word study. I try to build a thorough understanding in the students for each subject I teach. I enjoy putting together valuable, clean looking lessons. When I design SMARTboard lessons, I always keep the goal in mind: Students are supposed to touch the board on most of the slides. I don't like to look for several different files, so I like to produce whole units of study. Check out my fraction unit. It is amazing, if I do say so myself!
