Hello Michelle,
I am sorry that I haven't finished them yet. I am working on compiling the standards in succinct statements that will fit into the sizing/font of the formatting that I have been using while keeping the integrity of the standard. Some of them are lengthy. I must say that I have upmost respect for math teachers of upper grades. I have few more days of work next week and I will be dedicating more time to this project. Thank so much for touching base.

When I create my I Can Statements I use the standards from the Common Core State Standards Initiative (www.commoncore.org). According the their site the "standards for K–5 reading in history/social studies, science, and technical subjects are integrated into the K–5 Reading standards."
It is my understanding thought that some states have added standards in addition to the Common Core Standards. I am more than happy to create for you what you need. So i love your "I can" statements for K-5, i was wondering if you had the same thing for 6th grade? I am the math specialist for my school, and we are just introducing the new common core this year. I work in all grades for k-6 so i could really use this for 6th grade also. Thanks for all you do!!

Hi I have a question! lol Um, I teach, well, will teach K,1,2 next year. Is there anyway I can bundle the 6 sets common core statements for math and ELA for all three grade levels instead of the 6 ELA statements for the grade levels you have listed? Just last month I bought your ELA I can statements for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. And now I find out I am changing grade levels. ( Go figure) lol Just thought you might be able to create a special bundle for me haha

Thank you so much for asking! That is an incredible idea! I did not create them with that in mind so I am not certain if they would fit onto a label template right now. However, you could print them on to a label sheet (8 1/2 x 11) and cut them individually. I will investigate various label sizes and see what I can do. I will update this question to let you know what I came up with.

Thank you Annie for contacting me. Ohio is one of the states that adopted the Common Core State standards. States have the option of adding 15% additional standards to the Common Core State Standards. When I researched Ohio Standards to answer your question the Ohio Department of Education's website links directly back to the Common Core website. The "I can' statements that I created come directly from the Common Core website. I hope that this helps.

Thank you Christina for contacting me! I have them in a pocket chart that is posted on a bulletin board that says "I can with Common Core". I put up the categories and then display about four of each standard that we are covering. Some teachers have told me that they place them on a large binder ring. Another suggestion is to laminate them and place a small magnet on the back to display them on a white board. Thanks for including your email. I will send you a picture of how I display mine.

May be a silly question, but perhaps did I overlook grade one " I can" common core statements for ELA? I am a K-5 Reading Specialist and need a complete set K-5 and I want to do a one stop shop. Did I miss them? Thanks. Michelle

I just uploaded a bundle of ELA K-5 "I can" statements. They all have the same size and style of font as well as graphics. I hope that you find that these are what your are needing.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have nearly one third of the doctoral process complete. My education also includes a M.S. in Reading, B.S. in Elementary Education, A.A in Early Childhood Education. I and am certified from birth to grade 12. I have taught as an adjunct professor for education majors. Teaching elementary school has been my passion. Earlier in my career, I served as a Head Start an Even Start instructor, directed a large child care center, and was a state certified instructor for the Department of Children and Families to teach early childhood educators their required professional development courses..

MY TEACHING STYLE

Teach Inspire Prepare by Laura Wagner Jordan As indicated in my shop title, I believe that an educator's role is to "Teach, Inspire, and Prepare Students". I am always seeking ways to use researched based best practices. Reggie Routman's suggestion to "teach with a sense of urgency" has been my motto. I have my students for such a short time; therefore, I must teach with "urgency". This is why I love Teacher's pay Teachers...with the quality materials provided by fellow colleagues, I have time to dedicate to planning lessons based on my student's individual needs, and "teach with a sense of urgency".
