Hi!
Here's the link to the new product:
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/1st-2nd-Grade-Karate-Compound-Word-Divide-1179390

I had to add it as its own topic. Compound words are divided between the two words- not by the syllables (and most compound words are 1 syllable + 1 syllable = compound word.
I made the cards the same, but showed where the words would be divided on the back. Hope it works for you!

Hi- thanks so much for purchasing my product! Please see the following(and sorry for the inconvenience):
Directions: All cards are face down in one pile. One at a time, players take the top card and read it. If read correctly, the player keeps the card. If incorrectly read, the card is placed at the bottom of the pile. Play until all cards are read. Players count their cards and the person with the most wins!

The object of the game is to collect the most cards. Students need to read the word correctly in order to keep the card. I'm sorry I didn't make that more clear! Thank you for checking in with me, Dayl, and thanks for purchasing my product!

I purchased the Elf Party Game and love the ideas/graphics. Is there any way to change the font so the "a" looks like the circle/stick "a" and the "g" looks like a "g" kindergarteners will recognize? I'm working with the lowest kinders and I don't want to confuse when they are just learning the letters of the alphabet.
Thank you!

Do you actually physically have the kids do the Karate? I love these games and I bought your other games, too. I was just wondering how the Karate thing actually goes. I can't really picture it in my head. I was thinking of having the kids do a movement for the spot where the syllable goes but not sure. Let me know how you do it, please. Thanks. :)

I don't have the kids actually do karate, but you could incorporate moves if you know some. It could be really fun and chances are good that students would remember the division rules better. Thanks for looking at and buying my products! :)

Hi,
Thank you for the freebie. I have a question for you. On the second sheet it says to use one die, but the answers have numbers like 7 and 9. Shouldn't it be two dice? Maybe I am mixed up and don't know how to play. Please help me.

Hi Elizabeth-
Thank you so much for asking! I'm glad that your co-worker is so happy about this product. I changed the title, but it is the same product: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/23-Guided-Reading-Checklists-8-Most-Important-Things-at-Each-Level-920934

There is a multiple-purchase price of $1.88, but I think that needs to happen with the initial purchase. That being said, I think the wonderful administrators at TpT could figure out how to make this possible for you. I will contact them about your question.

Becky, This worked great no problems. Could you also provide a blank ball page so we can put our own words on the card? I am wanting to use your awesome game with a soccer them for the -ck words. It was absolutely fixed no problem! Thank you for being so quick to respond. I am going to use this lesson first for the -ck words only. I wonder if it is possible to get a goal that just says -ck on it or provide me with an editable copy of the goal page only so I can fix it myself. My email address is thebusybee@me.com. Either way would be fine if you have time. Thanks! I will leave excellent feedback. Thanks for the great resource!

Buyer re: The Best Little Guide to Persnickety Vowel Pairs... and spelling generalizations
You're welcome :) I have printed all of these and laminated them and am thinking of making some kind of poster for the wall so that my students can see them and apply them. I'm a first-year first grade teacher and am wondering if you can tell me if you teach whole-group lessons or small-group lessons to introduce/teach these different blends to your own students. Thank you so much for any input you can share :)

My current position is as Reading Specialist, so I have the luxury of working with small groups for intervention. I taught 3rd grade for 16 years, so I can imagine how I would've used it then...
I think introducing the concepts to the whole group would be great initially and then it have students work on center activities and work in small groups to reinforce the concepts would be best. Without practice in a smaller group, it would be harder to know if all students are understanding when to use the rules or what sounds are created. Hope this helps! :)

I love this product, but I see 2 errors on the game where students match syllables- cup-id should be cu-pid, but that is an open syllable, poc-ket, should be divided pock-et-can you provide an updated one with corrections please? I wouldn't min using cu-pid as a non-example if it is divided correctly... Thank you!
