Is this something that I can have 3 students do on the laptops in my classroom or do I generate the pages? If I do use it on the 3 laptops, do I need to purchase 3 licenses? Hi handstamped59, thanks for a great question! I will have more instructions written next time :) You can print out the printer friendly pages and distribute them to your students. Each of them will have different quotes but will be learning the same skill. First, explain to them what the RACE strategy is and show how to complete the RACE graphic organizer and write a paragraph from there. As a visual, project the colored pages on the board, model for them and guide them on how to complete the graphic organizer with one of the quotes. Then for guided work, assist them while they are doing the task on their own, repeat explaination if necessary. Extend the activity by asking the students to read their responses to each other, reward fantastic writing by displaying the work on the "Wall of Fame"! Good luck, ace that observation, you're hitting on some of the necessary accomodations for special needs students with this task (on grade level CCSS W5.4, W5.5): redirection, read aloud, modelling, use of graphic organizer, enlarge text, etc :)

MY TEACHING STYLE
As a current Inclusion Specialist and Reading Intervention teacher, I adapt my teaching strategies based on the needs of individual students that I work with. Allowing each student to feel successful at the various tasks they attempt is the key to motivating every child in my classroom to learn. By providing a variety of ways (modifying, scaffolding, etc) for them to successfully accomplish the tasks at hand, I motivate them and allow them to express what they have learned, thereby letting me know what they know.
