This is my 9th year as a special education teacher in my school district.
As a current Inclusion Specialist and Reading Intervention teacher, I adapt my teaching strategies based on the needs of individual students that I work with. Allowing each student to feel successful at the various tasks they attempt is the key to motivating every child in my classroom to learn. By providing a variety of ways (modifying, scaffolding, etc) for them to successfully accomplish the tasks at hand, I motivate them and allow them to express what they have learned, thereby letting me know what they know.
National Board Certified Teacher (Exceptional Needs Specialist), Outstanding Special Education Teacher by the National Association for Special Education Teachers (NASET), Former Executive Board member of WTU AFTLocal6, Council for Exceptional Children active member
I pursued higher education in the following areas: Special Education, Clinical Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Family Life and Child Development
