It is in PowerPoint, so you have to have that program to open. You might try downloading it straight to your desktop. I use a PC so I'm not sure how a Mac works. If you still can't do it, TPT help desk will be able to walk you through it. I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I have no experience with Mac computers.

It does contain some of the same type things but doesn't directly reflect that framework. The language arts skills that are in the DOE framework are not included, as I teach those during writers workshop. It does have the extended text, literature response, and rigor from the DOE but strictly in a literary comprehension format. I taught this unit at the beginning of the school year and it blew my mind at the amount of progress that my students made in their writing and discussion skills.

We take about two weeks at the beginning of the year for basics,then start it in week three. As far as the time each day, most of it happens during shared reading but there have been times when I would have the kids work on their literature responses during writing or independent time during a guided reading segment.

I always teach my kids how to recreate the grid on their paper just by drawing in lines. As far as transferring from screen to paper, my own students do not have difficulty. If you have kids who struggle with the transfer, you can print a master copy and let them use it.
I also have my kids turn their notebooks landscape style. It helps keep them organized and also assists them in lining up their numbers for place value, addition,subtraction,etc.

This product looks amazing! I think though, that you should consider either cutting down your preview or watermarking it. I think you give away too much! One page from each of the different difficulty levels really should be enough. Just my opinion, of course.

There are sixteen original poems in the unit. Many are printed four to a page to save paper. Others are popular Shel Silverstein and jack prelutsky, but those are not included in the unit. I purchased the Georgia Habitats BINGO game yesterday and I can't wait to use it tomorrow and Thursday during my Science review Centers. I noticed the question page and all of the BINGO cards have the Pacific Ocean as the ocean that touches the Georgia Border. I believe we are going to be doing our next unit on a book called The Tiger Rising. It is another book by Kate DiCamillo, author of the Winn Dixie book. There are a lot of parallels between the two stories. We are also going to try to integrate more language skills in this one as some test review.

We looked at the Helen Keller book and thought it was extremely too hard for our kids. We are fixing to start a new one using the book The Tiger Rising. It is also by Kate DiCamillo-like Winn Dixie. There are a lot of parallels between the books and helps meet those author study standards. I havent gotten anything put together for that one though. If you havent already gotten it, I have a short (2-3 week) unit on Poetry and Figurative Language in my store. It worked well with our kids. It has all of the lesson plans and sheets to go with it, and the links to the poems are all included as well.

It does contain lesson plans but I didn't add in the standards. It was written along with third grade standards but since the book is an upper level text, it would probably be ok for sixth graders.

Currently assigned as lead third grade teacher in my school. I have been teaching for seven years, all of them being spent at the same school.
