Freud re: Skyscraper Challenge - A Team Building Activity
This looks like a fun "mind's on" activity for our Structures unit. Since you have completed this activity already, can you give us the amounts of each material that you found worked well in your classroom?

Thanks!

Hi,
I think this activity will work great as a part of your structures unit!
Honestly, anytime I have done this activity I've had slightly different supplies. It all depends what I can get my hands on. The great thing about this activity is, it doesn't matter what you give your students, what matters is what your students do with it!
In general I give them 1-2 of the larger items, and 4-5 of the smaller items.
Hope this helps. Good luck and have fun!

Do you supply the materials needed? What supplies are required?

Hi,
I provide a list of possible supplies. It is open to interpretation. All items suggested are household items, or things they can be easily found at your local dollar store. Ex. Popsicle sticks, plastic spoons, etc.
Hope that answers your question.

Sorry for the delayed response. After I added your suggestion I guess I forgot to reply to tell you to re-download. I added elementary, middle, and high school teacher, as well as professor. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Michele,
Sorry, it got pushed to the back of my mind with the holidays and now being in the midst of moving. I would still love to participate but will be without a computer for a little while. I will let you know as soon as I send something and keep myself updated in the forum. Thanks again!
I hope you are doing well!

Hi,

Unfortunately these centers do not cover any operations with fractions. Sorry, this isn't quite the resource you were looking for. I hope to post more fraction centers soon!

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done!

Here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. Move the second page (thank you and advertising) to the end of your product and make the directions or suggestions page page #2. In the footer be sure to add the date of creation on EVERY page. Also number your pages.

I think it is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below. If you care to, a rating or any feedback you might have would be great. I would love to know what another math person thinks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2005, specializing in the unique area of Middle years and loving it. I have had experience in grade 5, 7 and 8. I have recently been teaching grade eight math and science for the past 5 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to make every learning experience a challenging, rewarding and successful one for all students. I use a variety of techniques and activities to make sure that I am touching on all of the multiple intelligences.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have designed and presented my ideas and concepts at SAGE (Special Area Groups of Educators)in Winnipeg, Manitoba by request. I was featured in a video developed by my division, the focus of which was differentiated instruction in the math classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from the University of Manitoba, with an Advanced Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Mathematics (2003), then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Education (with distinction), specializing in the Middle Years stream (2005).
