I have worked with children for most of my life. I started coaching boys competitive soccer when I was 16 and started to develop my love for teaching. In college I had the amazing opportunity of living in Guam for 2 1/2 months and running summer camps for children with parents in the military. This was a great way to learn many different management techniques. Before graduating from college, I worked in a children's gym where I got to work with children from ages 6 months to 8 years old. I've been in the California public school system for 5 years working for a very small urban k-8 district with less than 450 students. I taught Kindergarten for 4 years before making the jump to 4th grade.
I love for children to develop internal motivation and a love of learning. I teach in a workshop style for Language Arts, which I believe allows for more choice and creativity for both the children and myself. I am planning on changing my math program to be more of a workshop style next year.

I love to learn! I completed my B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Mathematics and Linguistics in 2006. I earned my Multiple Subjects teaching Credential in 2007 at San Francisco State University. I started my first teaching job that August in a Kindergarten classroom. I decided to continue with my education and in May 2011 I earned my Masters degree in Language and Literacy and my Reading Specialist Credential. I decided I needed a new challenge and decided to move to 4th grade for the 2011-2012 school year.
Developing my own classroom materials is a passion of mine!
