Would it be possible to receive a list of the sight words covered in your sight words interactive notebooks. I don't use the Journeys program and wonder (I suggest we do) cover the same sight words. Thank you.

I have one question...do you by chance have the center cards (Work on Writing, etc) in a larger version...wanted to make posters for each center and the ones included are a little small for that. Again, these are so cute and thank you so much for offering these. I also love the I Can posters!

I found this extremely helpful! i am coming into my first year of teaching 1st grade and having this helps me start something that I feel could really make me stand out in my new school and gave me some great ideas!

MY QUESTION IS:
Would you have the students past in these activity sheets themselves or have them already taped in and ready to fill in/color before the students are given notebook each day?

THANKS!

I wouldn't do any prep work for the children. The children are responsible for all of it. They can do it! They will need a few guided lessons, but you will be amazed at how excited they are to complete these activities!

We haven't adopted a new CC L/A curriculum yet, so we are still using Houghton Mifflin. That being said I am still tempted to buy your Journey addition just so I can use your response to reading ideas w/ my own/HM stories. Do you think this would be a good idea? Are the other activities (phonics & grammar) the same as the non Journeys addition, or are they adaptable?

BTW~ I am addicted to your blog and your products. I have a billion of them sitting in my shopping cart. I just need to narrow it down a bit so my DH doesn't go insane when our CC bill comes. Thank you for all of your hard work!
July 23, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Teaching With Love and Laughter
You are so sweet! Thank you very much for the kind words. The grammar and phonics activities in the Journeys pack are basically the same as the non Journeys edition. Some of the reading strategy activities are specific to the stories in the 2014 version of Journeys. You would need to white out some information before copying. If you do that, you could easily use them with your current series.

Thanks again!

Yay! I'm so glad! I learned something too because I never clicked on scale to fit before. Now I know I can print powerpoint slides without saving as PDF.

Hello! I use these activities during my whole group reading lesson. Once the children understand how to complete them with out my assistance, I use them during station time. Except for the reading skills. Those we do together. But they can complete the sight word and phonics activities on their own after awhile. Grammar is sometimes done whole group, or at a station. These activities can also be completed during your small group time. It's really up to you and your schedule. Hope I was helpful!

Danielle,

If you don't use Journeys, you could always get the phonics and grammar interactive notebook bundle. You wouldn't have sight words and reading skills, though. The Journeys sight words are great, so if you don't already have a sight word program, you could use it. As for the reading, some of the activities are labeled with specific stories and/or characters. You would need to white out the words.

Tammy,

When I typed them in, I easily fit 8 sight words and 12 spelling words. You just need to adjust your font and font size to fit in as many words as you need. I included 3 different versions, each with different sized boxes. Just use the one that has the largest boxes.

Teaching With Love and Laughter
Hello! As much as I love to make everyone happy, and I would love to do this for you, I just don't have the time to keep up with all the requests I get each day. Between work, family, and everything else I need to fit in during the day, there just aren't enough hours. I am terribly sorry, believe me, but I just don't have the time. I hope you understand!

Buyer re: Kindergarten Phonics Interactive Notebook
I am very excited to implement interactive journals this year. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into creating this for kindergarten. Is it possible to make and include an -og word family house page? I was hoping to have my students do the onset rhyme activity on one side of their notebook and the matching word family house activity across from it. All of the other rimes and word family endings match up great. Thanks!

Do you think the hall of fame will work with the top of the clip chart saying fantastic day? I started using a clip chart last year.
Thank you in advance.

I love this pack but wish it was for second grade Journeys. Is there any way you are making one to match for second grade?

Thanks Shelby! I am not making one for second grade because I don't teach it, but The Bubbly Blonde Teacher said she was going to make this for second grade. Sorry!

Are you going to make a pack like this for kindergarten by chance? Thanks! :)

Katie,

I have a Kindergarten Phonics Interactive Notebook pack here:

It covers all the skills that Journeys covers. I am just about finished with the Kindergarten Journeys Sight Word Interactive Notebook activities and will upload them today.

Do you out the notebooks together prior to giving them to the students? Or are they responsible for gluing the prompt in??

Teaching With Love and Laughter
Nichole,

I don't put the notebooks together for the children. The children are responsible for the cutting, gluing, and assembling. It takes some practice, but they all take ownership of their books and try very hard to make them something to be proud of! It's a wonderful thing to see!

Hello Lori,
I was looking at your interactive notebook that you have aligned with Journeys 2014 Edition and it looks spectacular. The only problem is that I don't teach 1st grade. I teach 2nd grade and would love to use an interactive notebook that is aligned with Journeys. I was wondering if there was any possible way for me to buy your unit where I could edit it and make it appropriate for Journeys for 2nd grade. Please let me know if this would be possible or if there is a way you could make one for 2nd grade because I would definitely buy it. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and wonderful resources. I know that one of the first grade teachers at my school will be purchasing this to use in her classroom! :)

Amber,

Although I won't be making these activities for second grade, The Bubbly Blonde Teacher is in the process of making them. Make sure you follow her store so you'll know when they are finished. I'll also announce when they are finished on my facebook. I'm sure they will be wonderful. :)

Love this...however how do you store it so it is organized and easy to use? There are so many cards!
Thanks

Thanks Karisa! I put each set in a labeled Ziploc baggie. And then I keep all the baggies in a labeled bin. I LOVE baggies! I use the slide-loc baggies so the children can easily open and close them.
