Marie Modica  (TpT Seller) re: Gr. 4/5 Science Unit for Pulleys, Gears, Forces & Structures
Hi there,
I am hoping to use your units for upcoming September but our school does not have iPads. Are they required for the units or can I simply use the computer lab?
I am so happy to see products for split level grades and would love to be able to have these units prepared and put together for Sept.

Thanks!

Hello Marie,
We thank you for your question & interest. This unit is built on a 5 centre rotation which includes iPads. We built it in such a way that if you do not have iPads, you will still have the other centres to work with. Therefore, to answer your question, as nice as it is to have iPads, they are not necessary for the unit. Again, we thank you for your interest & question. All the best!

Two things - I was wondering if you were going to be working on the other two 4/5 science units. The two I've purchased have been very successful with the students. Awesome - thanks.
2nd - quick suggestion - is it possible to make your youtube links clickable? It is sometimes difficult to type in the addresses and a couple haven't worked for me, so then I have to search. What I was trying to do was create QR codes so the students using IPads could just scan and go.

Jevon Salerno  (TpT Seller) re: Gr. 4 Science Unit (Pulleys and Gears) for Ontario Curriculum
Hey,
I just bought the gr.4/5 pulley/structure unit,
I teach spec. ed. from grades 4-6. So I figured I would do pulleys and gears.
I am wondering is it worth me buying your gr.4 pulleys/gears.
I downloaded the preview and the assessments you show are the same ones in the 4/5.
What do you think?
I know I need to modify and teach each definition separate, pulley, level, gear, incline, etc.

Hi Jevon,
Firstly, we would like to thank you for supporting our store. We are glad you find the product useful and engaging. The best way to answer your question is to basically list (see below) the activities found in the Gr 4 unit. Hoping this helps you, but please let us know of any other questions you may have. You can either post here, or contact us via our email: TRadmin@teachingrocks.ca

Ok, in the Gr. 4 unit all lessons have been adjusted to address only the Gr. 4 curriculum. For example, in the Gr 4 unit, Lesson 1 is named Introducing Mechanisms vs. the Gr 4/5 unit: Introducing Structures and Mechanisms.

The Gr 4 unit also has the following lessons/activities which are different from the Gr 4/5 unit:

* A worksheet which allows students to identify Simple Machines
found within a Compound Machine
* A gear train design challenge with definitions, images and handouts
* A supplementary Art lesson utilizing Gears

The final culminating task and assessments are the same.

We hope this helps in your decision making process and if you have any other questions just let us know.

The unit is a secured PDF so that it cannot be copied and pasted, but the printing option is still there. We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with it. We double-checked the unit that is on TPT and we can't seem to see a problem. If you email us at tradmin@teachingrocks.ca, we can email you a copy and see if that works for you.

HI, I have been using the Pulleys and gears unit and am having a very positive experience with it. The students are enjoying it too. i will be approaching lesson 7 and that lesson says to watch a power point presentation and that it is on a zip file. I cannot find any link to this power point can you help me?

Of course we can help you! It should not be a link but a separate file under Power Point. Nevertheless, please email us at tradmin@teachingrocks.ca, please provide your e-mail & we will send you the file separately.

Hi Susan, first and foremost we would like to thank you for supporting our store & products. We take great pride in the products we create. The unit you purchased is quite large (file size) & it contains a PDF & a PPTX, therefore it needed to be put together via a ZIP file. You need to unzip the file with a proper program. We have checked the file on our end & the problem you have explained does not occur. We definitely understand your frustration but the file is intact.

We are happy to help you further, please email us at tradmin@teachingrocks.ca, provide your email address & we will send you the files separately to your email address if you would prefer. Thank you & look forward to future business with you.
Sincerely,
The TeachingRocks! Team

Hi,

Just purchased this yesterday, and love it! I was wondering if you would have time to make a page with a title on it to hang with our display. I need something about Diversity....

I was hoping you might have time to do a page for me to hang above the display with:
DIVERSITY: WE ALL FIT TOGETHER

With the puzzle border you have on your title page for the product....

Thanks so much!

Just let me know how much, and I can PayPal you the money.

Warmly,
Angela Gaskin

It is nice to see a resource to help teachers learning about Down syndrome. It seems some of the information is outdated and or not reflective of current practice and expectations in classrooms today. Would you be interested in updating this presentation?

mstrick re: Zipping Around the World: A Fun Project to Learn about other Countries!
I purchased and downloaded your unit "Zipping Around the World: A Fun Project to Learn about other Countries!" (290086) and am excited to begin the unit in my classroom. I did have a quick question- in the unit your refer to turning everything in in a suitcase. Is this a pattern for a paper suitcase (portfolio style) or a real suticase that you would have the students bring their work back into the classroom in? If a pattern, I'd love to have a copy or picture of it so that I can duplicate it.
THanks again-
MS

Thanks for your question! The "suitcase" is open to student interpretation. Some students used a knapsack decorated with patches from their "travels", others made a suitcase from a cereal or shoe box, while others designed something unique to their destination (e.g. one student repurposed a t-shirt from the actual location into a bag). We left it open to maximize student creativity! Enjoy the activity!

Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in our behavior paper which you will definitely find useful. We have included a set of questions/response prompts that will help guide your students in an in depth reflection on their behavior.

Here are a few examples:
This is what happened and where it happened...
To solve the problem or situation, I will...
I learned...

It is two pages, beginning with a check off box stating whether this is their first, second or third behavior paper (warnings), and ending with lines to be filled out by parents, school/teacher comments and signatures.

I have personally used the behavior paper within my own classroom (gr.7/8) and find it extremely useful with students - definitely a great part of classroom management!

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done! Since you are new to TPT, here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products.

I noticed you used the footer to put the copyright symbol and your name but think about addint the date of creation as well on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also number your pages.

I think it is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below. If you care to, a rating or any feedback you might have would be great.
