TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Mrs. Kaiser has been teaching in the Cumberland County School system for the past 13 years. In that time, she has taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. Six of these years were spent in self-contained 4th grade classrooms. The past four years have been spent in a science/social studies/technology lab classroom for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

According to my Facebook quiz I am "very positive and love to give praise. You feel that every one of your students has something to offer and you make them aware of each of their strengths. You work hard in the beginning of the school year to make sure that your classroom environment is a very safe and judgement-free zone. You promote positive interactions between students as well. You love giving our compliments, stickers and high-fives. Students feel they can take chances and risks in your classroom because they know that failure is just another step on the road to a new success. Students love being in your class because you make them feel cherished and loved. They know that you care about them and their learning. Sometimes it is difficult for you to give consequences to students even when they truly deserve it, but you do not want to ruin the positive bond between you and your students because you want them to love to come to school everyday."

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was honored to speak at the National Conference on Quality in Education in 2001. I achieved National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist in 2002. I am a recipient of the 2011 Burroughs Wellcome Career Award for Mathematics and Science Teachers. I have received numerous grant awards through the following programs: DonorsChoose; Bright Ideas; and Cumberland County Education Foundation.
