I also have had the problem with the lighter (yellow, green, pink) codes not reading. Even printed them in black and white and still wouldn't read the light ones. We have several teaches with several qr readers and none of them would read the light ones. Any chance you could just change the colors on those? Otherwise I LOVE this and my kids will too!

I share the rule of 9's which is in the free version and a pattern, as well as 1 other rule for finding the sum of the angles in a polygon. This also contains hints and patterns for finding the number of diagonals in a polygon and a practice page that can be used to prove the rule. I hope this clarifies things for you. Hi! You can definitely change the view of the graph. All you have to do is right click on the graph and go to chart options. Choose the style you want from there. In fact, line graphs are what I typically use with my students. I can't even remember why I left it as the default bar graph when I posted this. I will probably go back and change that. Thanks for asking. As for recording the data, I have done it both ways. It just depends on the group of students. If you want to grade their results, it is easier if everyone is recording data from the same cities at the same time. Lately, I've been using Google Earth with the Weather Layer turned on. I project it on the SmartBoard and students gather their data all at the same time. It takes about 10 min. to do it this way every day. This makes it easier to go back and double check their data as well. Hope this helps.

Can you tell me what QR code generator you like to use? My students went CRAZY when they saw your codes. Many didn't know, yet, what a QR was, but when I put your codes up on our Smartboard and we used our iPods to decode some of them they were blown away! Now they want to use QR codes in all of their projects. My GATE kids are submitting their GATE Newsletter articles using QR codes. We're having fun...and I thank you!

There are 2 that I use the most. Kaywa is basic and easy to get started with. http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ The other one I like is qrstuff. This is the one I used to generate codes in color. http://www.qrstuff.com/ Both are free and include options for various formats. The text format is the one I used for this document, but your students will quickly pick up on the other types of uses. It sounds like they already have picked up on some nifty ways to use a QR code. When I first made it I didn't have a SMARTboard. Now I have a SMARTboard but I don't have a homeroom class and don't teach math anymore. Go figure.
Anyhow, I would project it on my Smartboard if I were still using it but from there I would use it the same way I always did.
I opened the file on 1 computer and chose the tab for the worksheet that matched the day we were on. It holds 180 questions - one for each day of the school year. Then as students came in, they would go to the computer; read the question; view the answer choices already on the empty graph; click in the cell next to their name and type their choice.
Later in the year, I could print the graphs to make up math questions using our "real data".
It ends up saving time in class because we don't have to set aside any time to collect data during math class, as we have collected data all year long.

Mrs. Kaiser has been teaching in the Cumberland County School system for the past 13 years. In that time, she has taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade.
