I have taught first through third grades, as well as multi-age 2nd/3rd classes. I have been a reading tutor, utilizing Reading Recovery techniques, Question/Answer Relationship strategies, and many other comprehension tools of the trade.
My biggest love in teaching is developing questions for literature in order to assist students in comprehension. To help them learn to dig deeply into literature in order to obtain meaning is a huge reward for me. Books can teach lessons, build academic skills, and take students into another depth of thought, if they are guided by the teacher. The study guides and tests I've developed build grade-level appropriate skills and thought processes. I teach in a very hands-on way, encouraging projects to go along with literature, author studies, and try to integrate subjects as much as possible. I can be reached at jtboxberger@cox.net.
