Hello. I did these activities in a science club setting which was not subject to meeting science standards. My objective was to let kids explore in a directed manor with no contstraints about what they "had to" learn. Most topics/chapters contain at least 3 activities. Some activities may be too challenging for 3rd graders, but I believe most are appropriate, especially if you have adequate parent or adult help in the classroom. The activities also may take a bit longer with 3rd graders. My first group of science club members is now in the 2012 graduating class, and they still talk about the fun they had. Many parents participated in the club, and they had just as much fun as their children did. Take a look at my free item, "Experimental Aviation". This is the shortest topic in the collection. It consists of one primary activity, but it will give you an idea of age appropriateness. I hope this helps.
