As we know NCLB turned most of us from creative voices to drill and practice coordinators. We lost our creativity and somewhat our identity. I was lucky enough to work for principals that didn’t make me change (even though they tried at times). So I was asked to join a group of teachers on special assignment. My job for the past two years was to support teachers in shifting their instruction to meet the demands of the CCSS. I recently accepted a STEM Coordinator position. My job now is to support teachers and students in application of learning using STEM and CCSS. Basically, I am developing, designing and implementing STEM lessons/units that directly connects with ELA/Math CCSS, Art and Social Studies. I am also supporting in the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards. I have taught and worked in the field of education for the past 20 years. I have a partner that collaborates on products from time to time. Mark is a Literacy Coordinator. I'm a single dad trying to make a little extra money to pay the bills. So I personally thank you for visiting my store. Thanks and keep fighting the good fight! Doug
