QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Laura Becker (TpT Seller) re: Systems of Linear Equations Review Packet: a Study Guide

Hi Emily, I was wondering if you made an answer key for this document. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Systems-of-Linear-Equations-Review-Packet-a-Study-Guide-154674

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

I do not have an answer key. I meant to, and I can, but right now I am away at a family funeral. Perhaps by next week. I'll put it to the top of my priority list.

Thanks for your inquiry.

Buyer re: The Quadrilateral Detective: A Coordinate Geometry Activity

I really can't read any of the thumbnails. I am just trying to see if this would be too difficult for my geometry class.

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

The first couple of pages are quite easy, appropriate for a low level class, with each page increasing in difficulty until the last two, which are more challenging (appropriate for an honors level class). There is also an empty activity page where you can add your own coordinates and make the activity as challenging as you like.

Students will need to be able to plot the points, use slope criteria to identify parallel and perpendicular lines, use distance/midpoint formulas to find important criteria, and identify quadrilaterals based upon these characteristics. If your students can do those things, then I think you can make this work for them.

I hope that helps.

Buyer re: The Quadrilateral Detective: A Coordinate Geometry Activity

Is there anyway to see a preview of this activity?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Thanks for your interest. The thumbnail images are a fairly accurate preview of the activity. All of the pages in the activity are variations of the thumbnails shown. Is there something specific that you wish to see more closely?

Do you mean that you want 10 sets of the printed 11x17 posters? I do have only 4 on my shelf, but I can order more. I should be restocked by Thursday and will be able to mail the bundle by the weekend. I'll go ahead and update the quantity now, and you can place your order.

Buyer re: Common Core Posters: Standards for Mathematical Practice

I would like to see what the SMP posters look like before I buy for the whole math department. If I buy one at 5 dollars now to see how they look once printed, can I come back later and buy more licenses at 2.50 for the rest of the department?

Yes you can. Once you have purchased the initial license, just click 'My Purchases' under the 'My TpT' tab. There you can manage your purchase, print a receipt, re-download, AND purchase additional licenses. Thank you for your interest.

Sherry P. re: Common Core Posters: Standards for Mathematical Practice

Do you offer a site license so more than one teacher can use your posters? What about for more than one school?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

You can purchase multiple licences of almost every product on TpT, including my posters. Each additional license is only half of the cost of the first license. In this case, the first license is $5 and each additional license is $2.50. Just click on the button that says "Buy Multiple Licences." It is just beneath the "Add to Cart" button. Each additional licenses will cover use in one other classroom... whether it be at your school or another.

Buyer re: Common Core Posters: Normas Para La Práctica De Matemáticas

Is it possible to get a document that we can read to check the quality of the Spanish?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

The translation was done by the California Mathematics Council in 2012. You can find a descriptive document here: http://www.sandi.net/cms/lib/CA01001235/Centricity/Domain/217/8%20Math%20Standards-Spanish.pdf

Kathy Routh (TpT Seller) re: Common Core Posters: Standards for Mathematical Practice (Print Edition)

Hi, Gayle.

I love the posters! I am interested in the printed ones--is there a separate 11 x 17 poster for each of the 8 standards? The thumbnail shows 2 standards per poster. Also, does this order include the 8 x 11 poster with all eight standards on the same page? I would want to give each student a copy for their notes. Thanks!

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Kathy,

There are 8 posters, with one standard apiece in the printed version. I just combined the images for the thumbnails, so I could fit 8 images into the restricted 4 thumbnails. When you purchase the printed version, if you just send me a message with you email address, I will email you a copy of the student handout so that you can print it off for them. Normally, it is not included with the printed version, but I'm happy to send it to you.

Thanks for your support, and best to you in the new school year.

I just submitted an order, then went back to a description...it says "Out of Stock". Do you have the posters, or are they out of stock?

Just to clarify, each individual practice poster is 11x17? I only ask because the thumbnail images show two per page. Thanks!

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Yes! There are 8 posters, each 11x17. We're limited to 4 thumbnails, so I just combined the images to fit all 8 posters on the thumbnail images.

Thank you.

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Other than the Algebra checklist, which is offered as individual parts or bundled together as one item, I have not bundled any of my items together. This is perhaps something I might do in the future, but for now it's not in the plans. Sorry. I hope you can find what you are looking for. I do occasionally have sales, where all items are offered at a 20% discount. If you 'follow' my store, you will be notified when these sales take place. Thanks,

I am new to this site. I was just wondering how it works. If I buy something from you does it give me the license to reproduce it for my students? Is it a multi-year use?

Thanks,

Dan

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Yes Dan, You have permission to use the item in your classroom and to reproduce it as many times as you like for your classroom setting only (for as many years as you like too!). The license does not extend outside of your classroom needs however, so if you share the resource with another teacher, the license does not cover their students too. Just point them back here to purchase another license for themselves. You are also agreeing not to post the item on the internet to be freely downloaded by others (permission will granted to post the item on a password protected site for use by your students).

Thanks for your interest in my resources.

I love your posters - how big would they be if I ordered the print product from you?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

The print versions are 11"x17". They are professionally printed on a heavy-weight glossy stock.

Mikel Jones (TpT Seller) re: Visualizing Lines and Planes in Geometry

Does the activity include a key?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

This is one of the first items I ever posted on TpT, before I thought about also posting an answer key! So the answer is, no it does not include an answer key, BUT it's on the top of my list for today. It will be included by the end of today. Thanks for pointing it out! -Emily @ The Allman Files

Mrs. Co- (TpT Seller) re: Holiday Picture Logic Puzzle: Color By Number

Hi! I am soooo confused. I don't get how to do this and that's after looking up a similar puzzle on the web, which is just as confusing! Yikes! If you have time, could you explain please?

Thanks!

Janice

Thanks!

Janice

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

Janice, There's a lot of logical thinking involved, but here are some tips to get you started:

* The numbers give information about how many groups of blocks will be shaded in any given row or column... for example

* Notice that the first column contains only the number 30. That means that in that column, 30 squares will be shaded in together. Since there ARE only 30 squares in that first column, you can go ahead and shade in the whole column.

* Next, look at the first row. The numbers 2 11 13 1 tell you that in that row, the solution will contain a block of two, followed by some space, a block of 11, space, a block of 13, space, and a block of 1. The hard part is that you do not know how large the spaces will be and whether there will be any space at the front or back of the row. This is where the logic comes in: you'll notice that 1) the column you already filled in tells you that there is no space in the front of the row (go ahead and fill in the first block of two) and 2) if you add up the numbers in the first row 2+11+13+1=27, there is only room enough in the row to hold three more squares, which means the spaces between the blocks can only be one square! Fill in the first row accordingly.

* Now, having the first row and column filled out correctly, you will find that you can fill out at least the first bit from every row and column. The more you get filled in, the more information you have to help you fill out the rest!

* Don't worry! I find that there is a tough learning curve up front, but once you get those first two rows/columns filled in, you'll be hooked and so will you students. It's very rewarding once you get the hang of it.

Enjoy!

It is password protected. Thank you again!

Buyer re: Scatter Plots, Trend Lines, Regression Equations and Data Analysis

I purchased this unit and I think it is wonderful. I am wanting to use some of these activities for my IBL unit at my middle school. We have a closed internet portal that only my students, myself, and administrators have access to with usernames and passwords. Would I be allowed to put some of this material on this portal for my unit if I show where my resources came from. This portal can not be accessed by anyone on the internet except for my current students. The point of the portal is so administrators can see what we are teaching electronically and if a student is absent they can stay caught up by going on the portal and doing the activities on their own. Let me know if I have your permission. Thanks for the great material!

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

As long as the site is password protected, I am happy to grant permission for you to post it online. Thank you for asking and for your support of my materials. Enjoy!

Tara Costigliola (TpT Seller) re: Triangle Centers Coordinate Geometry: Common Core Performance Task

How long did it take your students to complete this assessment?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

As a collaborative assessment, you should allow about 30 minutes, but I'd say that's a ball-park estimate. You should consider level of students, comfort with the content, and experience with this type of assessment when blocking time in your schedule. I always find that each class presents different needs. Some need lots of coaxing to get those verifications and justifications out onto the paper. I hope it goes well for you.

Buyer re: Circle Properties Study Guide: Angles, Arcs, and Segments

This will be great as a visual organizer. Do you have anything available that can help "push" the formulas in? The students (10th graders) have a hard time keeping them all straight, and their long term retention (until the end-of-year test) is minimal. Would love to find some activities that will help with that.

RE: Assessing Understanding: General and Analytic Rubrics for Math Performance Tasks - Excellent resource, thanks so much for sharing. On the P/4 rating and explanation sheet you ask the question, "Can I have permission to share . . . " . Would it be possible to change the "can" to "may"? Buyer re: Algebra 1 Review Checklist Part 2: NonLinear

i see that most of your files, which are amazing by the way, have common core listed. However, here in MS we are coing to ccss in 2 years and we are trying to get a head start. I found you stuff on pinterest and just need to know if the review checklists are core standard oriented?

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

The review checklist was made from my experiences in a pre-CCSS Algebra 1 course. I have added the Common Core citations as they apply to the individual items, but did not begin with the standards and create the list from that. For example, the CCSS have most of the linear items in Grade 8 (or prior) and most of the non-linear items are listed in High School. I am currently working on three new checklists for Common Core Math in Grade 6, 7, 8. Those should be posted in a week or so. Watch for them! And if there is something more specific you are looking for, let me know. I'll put it on my to-do list.

Thanks for your positive feedback.

Buyer re: Common Core Posters: Standards for Mathematical Practice

Can these posters be printed on 11x17 paper without distorting the images? I want to post them in my classroom, but I want them to be larger.

The Allman Files (TpT Seller)

The posters were formatted for 8.5x11, but if you want 11×17 you'd either have to enlarge them125-130% and cut off the edges or centered on the page. If you send me an email, I'll enlarge them for you and send you a new file. Thanks for your purchase! -Emily (coremath912@gmail.com)
