I have substitute taught for three years and during that I had long term assignments in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, 9th and 10th grades. This wonderful and diverse experience led me to my dream job at Penta Career Center where I am going into my 4th year of full-time teaching. Penta is a career and technical education school where I teach a unique district created class called Y.E.S. (Your exploratory success) 101. The concept of the course is to teach employability, social, people, communication, decision making, and financial skills to sophomores. We also serve as mentors for the sophomores while they explore different career program choices for their junior and senior year. It is a great class and I cannot wait to show you more of what I do there!
I like to teach hands on lessons that are relevant and student centered. I have found success in doing this and realize that teens learn best when they are moving and interested in what they are learning.

I graduated from Ohio University with my bachelor's degree in Integrated Language Arts 7-12 with a minor in English. While substitute teaching and having a hard time finding a job in Toledo, Ohio, I began working on my master's degree to become an Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist. With that I also attained a Reading endorsement for k-12. After landing my dream job at Penta Career Center in 2011 I also completed yet another teaching license for Career and Technical Education.
I am beginning to explore creating clip art and digital paper! I love it!
