Thank you so much! I came up with this idea when I was creating a goal setting activity for my 8th graders who take the LEAP test. They get a letter with their scores at the end of the year. I always do an activity where I read them a scenario about getting that letter and have them picture opening it. I've always wanted to make it more authentic and have them actually open something meaningful. So now I put the letters my students create in the envelopes and let them read the words of advice from former students. It is a powerful moment in my classroom. :)

I assume you mean the preview. The preview is a PDF file. I'm not sure why there would be a problem unless you don't have software that opens that type of file. I will check out the file and let you know.

I checked the file and it opened with no problems. This is a Smartboard Presentation and was created using the Notebook software program. I use the signs for a variety of things. For example, when I ask multiple choice questions on a presentation or when we are reviewing, I'll have the students hold the signs up to get a quick check on who has the concept or who may be struggling. The TRUE/FALSE ones I use a lot when we do anticipation or reaction guides before or after reading a story. I also use them when we are looking at work samples for the students to assess the quality of work.
Regardless of how I use the signs, I always select a few students to justify their response or give me evidence to support why they agreed/disagreed, etc.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching 6th-8th grade Literacy Enrichment at Gonzales Middle School for five years. I've also just completed my first year as a Mentor Teacher on our campus. I have also been a Junior Beta Club sponsor and the co-chairman of the GOMS Annual Multicultural Fair for the last five years.

The biggest honor I have received is being selected to be a Mentor Teacher for the 2012-2013 school year.
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I began my undergraduate degree at River Parish Community College where I was a member of the Ambassadors Program, a community and campus service organization. Also, I was the President for the Student Government Association at RPCC. I majored in Social Studies Education at Southeastern Louisiana University. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in the Spring of 2008. I was a member of SEAS, an educational group at SLU. In addition, I was named the Top Social Studies Education Major at SLU in the Spring of 2008.
ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
I have been teaching 6th-8th graders at Gonzales Middle School since 2008. I have been the Electives Team Leader on campus for the previous three years and have just recently been selected to be a Mentor Teacher for the 2012-2013 school year. I've been married to my wonderful husband, Jami, for almost three years.
