I bought these for my fourth grade class and found many of the cards to be insensitive and inappropriate for that level. I think these cards are better at the older level, but 4th grade is definitely too young for these. I actually was unable to use these cards even though they are a great idea!

I had trouble with the Prezi but the TpT seller was very quick to reply to my email and he did what he could to fix the problem. I really feel that this is a good unit and I would buy it again.

I went in and made the prezi public. You can search for it under my name (Randy Seldomridge). I think the you tube videos that I have it linked to are no longer available. I have updated it twice with new videos since posting the project to TpT. I am currently at my other job, but will try to relink the videos tonight when I get home.

I follow your blog and enjoy hearing about your teaching triumphs (and challenges, too!). I purchased the smartboard set of the genre flash cards. Thought it was a great idea. However, I'm not sure how to allow students to see the selection and the choices all on one screen. Am I not using it right? I can't get the selected text big enough for students to see without modifying every "card." Am I doing something wrong? Should I just print the choices and just let them see the text? Seems like I'd still have to modify every card...I think the font choice doesn't help matters.

If you click on full screen mode, it will show the question card and choices, then students can move the correct answer onto the question card. I hope this helps and makes sense.
But you are oh so right! I went to use it with my students this week and that font is horrible! I will be updating it with an easier to read font. Once I do, you can download the newer, easier to read version from your purchases tab. I am so sorry and did not realize last year when I created it how hard those things were to read. I plan to work on it this weekend.

I do not have anything that I have created for my SS INB. Most everything I used in it was from InspirEd Educators. A few of the geography stuff I found on the internet and all of the foldables are from Dinah Zike. I am kind of lazy like that - this was my first year teaching SS and I was just trying to survive in a new grade level, teaching two subjects, and a new subject.
As far as the autobiography project, it is more like a year-long writing assignment where students write about their life before they were born, when they were little, their current life, and finally their goals/dreams for the future. I like the "History of Me" idea and think it could work that way for you.
