Hi! Thanks for contacting me! Some customers have told me that sometimes just trying it again works, so first try that. :)

Do you have the latest version of Adobe Reader? You need that to open most files. You can find it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5138.

If that doesn't work, try this advice from TpT Tech Support:

1) Open the PDF file with the newest version of Adobe Reader
2) Click 'print'
3) Click on 'advanced'
4) Check the 'print as image' box, and this should cover all potential issues

If after you have tried this you are still having trouble, please let me know! Email me at peanut_gallery_3@yahoo.com. TpT tech support is also great, so you might want to contact them as well. No worries; we will get it to work for you! :)

Hi there! Thanks so much for your question! Well, I guess that depends on what you feel your second graders can handle. I am not sure what level they are. The book report involves students identifying the title, author, genre, reason for choosing the book, setting, main characters (along with character traits), writing a summary, and answering some opinion questions. They put all of these components on a food item that they create.

I hope this info helps you to decide whether or not it would work for your kiddos. All the best! Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Roberta Haren re: Poetry Posters and Practice Pages
Good afternoon- my students (5th grade) and I are loving this unit! The kids are using the pages to create Mother's Day books- haven't done something like this in years. My dilemma is this: we discussed what would be in a book if we actually published it. The students want a dedication page, a table of contents, and a "back flap" about the author. I am looking for one of the below requests:
1. The name of the borders and the fonts you used for the pages to create these additional pages on my
2. A way to create my own using what I purchased
-or- 3. A possible additional purchase of these pages created by you
I appreciate both your time and your talents. Take care- Roberta J Haren

Hi there, Susie! I am a bit confused. The burger is the booklet. As the description states:

"The booklet is in burger form with two buns for the covers. The pages inside (or burger ingredients) are where students write their good copies of the poems. Stack all the burger ingredients together, add a few staples on one side, and you have a delicious sample of student poetry!"

Do you mean you only received the burger and not the buns, cheese, lettuce, etc.? The black and white booklet pages are on pp. 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20. The burger booklet also comes in color.

The other pages are for students to write their rough drafts. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. I am honored to be your first TpT purchase! :)

I have read your description several times and I wanted to clarify something. Does this come with sample paragraphs for the students to put into order (or to complete the organizer for)? Thanks!
January 27, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
The Peanut Gallery
The Peanut Gallery  (TpT Seller)
Hi there! Thanks for checking. No, there are no paragraphs included, as I really felt that to do justice to teaching plot, it would need whole stories. For that reason, I picked a well known story ("Cinderella") that I felt most students would already know and most teachers would be able to find and included a sample plot line for that. That way, you could read the story to them or have them read it, identify the parts of the plot, and then either use the sample provided as a key or a student reference sheet.

This set mainly focuses on some fun graphic organizers and colorful posters with definitions of plot. They can then use the organizers to identify plot in stories they are actually reading rather than generic paragraphs from a practice unit. I know that if I wrote my own stories, they would in no way compare to real books, so I prefer to use read alouds for whole class practice with the graphic organizers. Hope this helps! :) Thanks again for checking and have a great week ahead!

Each house has two templates. One template contains a fill in poem which would use first person point of view (from the point of view of the house). The second template for each house has just blank lines so that you can have the students write any sort of poem you prefer in either first person (from the point of view of the winter house) or third person (about the house). If you view the thumbnails, you will see both types of templates. Hope this helps! :)

It is a pain to do it manually. I have been taking snapshots of the pages I've made, put them into paint to make a jpeg, copied and pasted them into word and then saved that into a pdf. The Peanut Gallery  (TpT Seller)
Hi, Deborah-
Well, I think teachers can incorporate my conduct book method in whatever way works best for their own classrooms. I teach sixth grade, and I personally feel that too many warnings sends the wrong message. I have found that if students feel they can get warning after warning with no real consequence, the behavior will never improve.

For this reason, I do not clear the slate until the marking period is over. This means that if a student breaks the rules today, he/she signs the book and it is a warning and just between the student and me. If the student breaks a rule two days from now, it now goes to a parent notification. It continues this way until the marking periods ends. Then I start a new page for each student.

Our marking period ends November 2. I have almost 120 students and I can tell you that out of all of them, I have sent home only 4 parent slips and given one detention so far. No one has moved beyond that. I really feel that the system works for me. I hope you will make it your own and find it useful, too.

If you have any other questions, just let me know. You can also email me at:

Hi there! I am sorry, but my PDF files are not able to be edited or changed. As a seller, I am responsible to the artists to secure their clip art and it is a term I agree to for the right to use their work. The unit contains pages for grades 2-6. It is really only the Popping Into... pages that have grade levels on them. Did you want to use it with a higher or lower grade? If so, just let me know which grade level and your email address and I will be glad to help you out! :)

Adventures in Room 5
Adventures in Room 5  (TpT Seller) re: Literary Genres (Posters, Review Cards & Genre Game Pack)
I already bought these, but I was wondering if the titles were color coded in any specific manner? Like I noticed that fables, myths, and folktales are all brown, but I didn't know if there was supposed to be any other pattern. Love them by the way!

Hi, Cassandra! I am so happy you like the genre pack! I really didn't color code them. I just chose the graphics and then chose colors I thought would blend nicely with the graphics for the titles. It was an artistic choice instead of a rational one! Haha! I hope you enjoy them!

Can a person customize the labels on the computer? Just wondering....

I love this set and the owl pack! I'm pretty sure I've found my new theme!

Hi there! I am sorry, but my PDF files are not able to be edited or changed. As a seller, I am responsible to the artists to secure their clip art. When I purchase PDF files from other sellers, I usually type what I want, paste it on the label or poster and laminate it (if a poster) or cover with a strip of clear packing tape (if label). It always looks pretty cute! Thanks for your question. I an so glad to hear you love the owls!

I don't mean to be a pest....this is just HOW much I love this file. Would you consider making a separate number file to purchase, with the owls up to 120 to meet the needs of common core standards? I originally only have room for a number line to 50, but decided I really NEED to find the room for numbers up to 120. I would really appreciate your consideration. Thank you so much!

You are not a pest! I just added a set. See what you think. They are the same style numbers as in your owl set from 1-120. Hope they work out! Enjoy! I'm glad you love the file so much! :)

I cannot tell you just how much I love this file. I was wondering if you would consider (and of course I am willing to pay) making the little number cards that go up to 36 right now, continue up to 50. I am wanting to turn these cards into a number line to 50. Please, please consider this! Thank you so much!

Hi there! When you first download it, you should see a My Purchase link. However, even after that, go up to the My Purchases tab and you should see all of your purchases under it. There should be an orange colored download button under each product. Let me know how it goes! :)

Here are some vocabulary and phrases I've used....just in case you need some sparks: Delicious!, Juice, Juicy, Sweet, ripe and ready, green but growing, get to the CORE, Seed, Sprout, Growing, Apple of My Eye, the orchard, pick, harvest, crop of _____, slice of _____, pie, variety, stem, branch out.....ready to play??

You are fun to talk to, Joanie! :) Thanks for your reply and also for the ideas. I also really appreciate you sending a link to my product to Leigh. So nice of you!

I will try to get the apple unit up by the end of this week. If you see it and don't like it, no worries! I will give it my best, though! I'll email you once it's up so you can have a look. Thanks again!

JoanieW re: Back to School Owl Theme Mega Bundle (Four Units in One!)
This is not working out well for me. One of my partners has an owl theme going. Another has Hollywood....down the hall are frogs and jungle...aurgh! I want this mega bundle for ME! :) Any apples coming up? I want all the same stuff...ALL of it. My theme is the Apple Orchard...with a DELICIOUS rubric: 4 Juicy and Extra sweet, 3 Ripe and Ready, 2 Green but Growing, 1 Nothing but the Core....I've gotta have apples! :)

Hi there! Thanks for your question. I like the apple theme, too! I know that owls, frogs, jungle, etc. are very popular themes. Let me see what I can come up with for an apple theme back to school unit. The graphics aren't as varied with apples, but I am sure I can come up with something that incorporates the elements from the mega bundles. Hopefully, you'll like it! :) If you want to follow me, you will get an update when the product is posted...or you can leave your email address here and I can email you directly when it's finished. Have a great day!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for over 20 years and still love it! Over the course of my career, I have taught several grade levels including third to sixth. I love the sense of humor children have, and I feel so grateful that I can spend every day with them!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe that children learn best when they are having fun. Lessons should never be monotonous; they need to be visually appealing, challenging, and motivating. My students never know what teaching tricks I have up my sleeve, and I like it that way. It keeps them engaged! Creativity and a sense of humor are integral parts of my teaching style. I also enjoy incorporating art and music into my lessons when possible.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Although I have received honors/awards from my school district, my greatest honor is hearing former students (many of whom are now adults) tell me I made a difference in their lives or inspired them. Some have even returned to tell me they want to become (or have become) teachers because of me. I can't think of anything better!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have degrees in both Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I hope you enjoy my products as much as I enjoy creating them for TpT!
