Just FYI I purchased the Word Choice & Writing Dialogue - Using Synonyms, Adverbs, & Quotation Marks and when I went to download it, it had FREE in the beginning of the filename. I don't mind paying for it at all, just wanted to let you know so that you can change it back to the original filename without FREE at the top. Love your stuff. Thanks. :)

how much time do you usually allow the kids to have for the quizzes?
October 24, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
The Upper Elementary Classroom
For the quick quizzes- I guess it depends on the class and grade level. This year I teach fourth grade and I started with five minutes. I would tell them when it was "1 min", "2 min" etc. so they could track how long it took them to complete all forty facts. (We focused on speed and accuracy.) By the last quick quiz, they were encouraged to finish in three. I hope that helps! Good luck! Jen :)

I really like this format and was considering purchasing your other designs. However, I am having difficulty with this one. I had no trouble with the first two pages and added pictures and text with no problems. I cannot get the pictures added to the third page. I've tried everything I know to do, but they keep filling in the background space of the page or creating a whole new page. Any thoughts?

First - thank you so much for your purchase!

Second - Do you have the program PAGES on your computer?

Open Pages, select the file menu at the top and select "open." Navigate to where the templates are saved on your computer and then select whichever template you'd like to begin using.

Please let me know of this works for you so I can help you troubleshoot more, if needed.

Thank you again,

Okay, under the "download now", it says you need to unzip on a PC to open it. When I click on this, it goes to 7Zip with two different Mac versions. I'm not sure I'm in the right place.

Hi Pennii,

Try downloading the file again from TpT. I also just reuploaded the set again and then downloaded it again on both a Mac and PC and I am not getting that message. Would it be possible for you to send me screenshot (command+shift+4 on a Mac) and I can help you troubleshoot? My email is jenireni3@gmail.com . If it's easier for you, I can email the newsletters to you instead. We will get these to work for you! :) don't worry! Jen

I know it's probably a simple solution, but I can't open this file correctly. Do I need to use the Unzip portion first, and how do I know what to use once I click on it? It gives several options and I'm not sure which one is adaptable to my computer.
August 1, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
The Upper Elementary Classroom
First of all, thank you! I am so grateful for your purchase.

To answer- YES- you need to unzip or extract the files first. In my experience "unzip" is for Macs and "extract" is for PCs.

After extracting or unzipping, navigate to the new folder and open the newsletter folder.

Please let me know if you are seeing something different. We WILL make these work for you!

Thank you again,

I am trying to print out the "Upper Elementary Estimation Jar" pages and no matter what I do, I cannot get lower half of page 6 to print(Reference Sheet, Survey Example, graph, and answers). Any suggestions? Everything else prints fine!
July 17, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
The Upper Elementary Classroom
Hello,
Here are three possible solutions. (Two are from the TpT Help section.)

Solution 1 -
*Question: What if my file isn't printing correctly?
*Answer: Sometimes a PDF will look fine on your screen, but may not print out correctly (especially if the file is graphic-heavy).

Try this:

1. Open the file in Adobe Reader.

2. Click "Print" within the Adobe Reader application.

3. You can select "adjust to fit" if necessary.

4. Click "advanced."

5. Check the "print as image" box.

Solution 2 -
Another possible fix:
*Question: Why is my PDF blurry? There are black lines where the images should be.

*Answer: Newly created PDF files need to be opened with the latest Adobe Reader software. You can get that for free here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

Solution 3 -
Try printing just page 6. (When printing, set it to print page 6 only.)

If none of these things work, I could email you the file. I'm not sure if this will make a difference or not, but we could try this! (If you are interested email me at jenireni3@gmail.com with "Estimation Jar" in the subject line.)

Hope one of these options works!
Jen :)

The Upper Elementary Classroom
Hi Kayt~

(Update: Please download the free preview file. I've added pictorial instructions on how to extract.)

Thank you so much for your purchase! Sometimes districts do not allow their employees to open zipped files on computers due to security concerns about what their employees might download. I can assure you these files are 100% safe, so if this is the case with your district there are a couple of things we can do.

However because it is saying there is error, I'm wondering if the files need to be unzipped/extracted? Usually this can be done by right clicking on the folder you downloaded and selecting "extract all." Your computer should then ask where you want to save the extracted files. They will open from the UNzipped folder.

If you are still unable upzip, there are two things we can do - if you'd like to email me at jenireni3@gmail.com, I will reply back with the unzipped templates attached. Another option is to unzip the files on a non-district computer and off your district's wifi network. You can then save the templates on a thumb drive or email the files to yourself for school use.

Please let me know how can I best support you!
Thank you again,
Jen

I am so happy you love them. Thank you so much for your purchase! Now let's problem solve this! :) Are you able to click on the text and edit it or add pictures?? All of that should be editable as downloaded.

The background is locked in place to line up with pictures and text boxes, but can be unlocked by doing the following: Click on the background. Then go to the ARRANGE menu at the top and then click on unlock.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you again, Jen

Hi Wendy,

(Update: Please download the free preview file associated with this product. I've added pictorial instructions on how to extract.)

I just downloaded the product to make sure the product was working correctly and it is, however the folder does need to be unzipped once downloaded.

Have you unzipped/extracted the files? Usually this can be done by right clicking on the folder and selecting "extract all." Your computer should then ask where you want to save the extracted files. They will open from the unzipped folder.

If you continue to have trouble, please email me at jenireni3@gmail.com and I'll send the templates to your email unzipped. I hope this helps. Please let me know how else I can help. I want to make sure you get these! :)

I never see this question, so maybe there's an obvious answer, but I don't know it. How do we buy newsletter templates, post them on classroom websites, and keep them from being saved and used by parents/others? I'm afraid of giving away your product.

Thanks!

Good question! Thank you for asking. Save your file as a PDF . You may already know how to do this, but there are two common ways. Sometimes you have this option when going to "Save As..." Also it's sometimes an option when you print - there's sometimes a pull down menu to "save to PDF." Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. :) Jen
