I wanted to inquire about your index cards sight word book. I pinned it on Pinterest and wanted to know where the pictures/sentences came from that you put into the books. I can't seem to find any download and don't see anything posted on your TpT site. Thanks!

I never made these to sell. It was just an idea I made years ago with the sight words I taught. Sorry.

You can use the Binder Covers in 1 inch binders. With a larger Binder I added scrapbook paper. See my blog:

Do you have a packet with all of your poems for sale?
July 25, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
The Very Busy Kindergarten
No I do not have a packet with my poems for sale. I do not feel that I should sell the poems because they are not my original creation. I find the poems in books that go with my themes and no excuse words and make them work for me.

You can find lots of poems on my kindergarten blog: http://theverybusykindergarten.blogspot.com/
and now my first grade blog:

I hope this helps you.

Hi Sue,
I absolutely love your kindergarten blog!! You have the most creative ideas. I am a new teacher and I have a question about your, "sign in for the day slip." I would like to try this for my first summer school k class. I was wondering.... Do you start this on the first day of school? Do you model for them how to do this a few times? What do early finishers do when they are done writing there name? How long are they given to write their name? Any helpful feedback would be AWESOME! Thank you.

The Very Busy Kindergarten
Hi Nicole,
I generally start this on the second or third day of school. I do model for them. I have cards for them to copy at first. I give them about 5-10 minutes. I focus on one letter at a time and encourage them to work improving. I try to meet with each child daily to give them encouragement. When they finish early they can work on puzzles or books. I accept whatever they can do and work for one improvement at a time. If a child is really struggling with a letter I will draw it for them very lightly for them to trace over. One year I pre-wrote a little guy's name in a yellow marker for him to trace for a while until he was able to do it on his own. I hope this was helpful to you. Thank you for reading my blog.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

After teaching kindergarten for twelve years I was promoted to first grade at a private school in Wisconsin. I love to teach reading and math. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to help my students grow as learners.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I encourage my students to work together in partners and small groups to solve problems. I believe that we learn from our mistakes. I try to give my students problems that they need to think through and explore to find the answers.
