Thank you for your feedback. Yes the brain video is more suitable as a teacher resource so you can properly teach the students or as a parent resource. While I have used it for older students it is best as a teacher resource. My students love the glitter ball! I was surprised at the lower feedback given that you said you thought the unit was "great".

I have corrected that and the new file is now there. :) No, you should not have to have a special program at all to open it and it is now in a pdf. You can delete the old one. Thanks for popping in and introducing yourself personally. Yes, I think we have lots in common. I only wish others could see how effective using this in your classroom is. I am always amazed how independent and caring they become. Class management is easier too! I am very proud of my Mindful Brains Mindful Hearts unit but it doesn't seem to be getting much response. Maybe we could pin each others stuff if you are on Pinterest ? I would love to keep in touch. If you are Google ( many TPT sellers are) come to the Elementary Education community board and post some of your stuff and we can maybe generate a little interest. I'm going to check your store out now!

Thanks for getting back to me. My focus of late has been writing; running writing workshops for teachers, interviewing authors for radio and developing my own writing. Finding suitable strategies for all ages is always useful and many 'junior' strategies can prompt 'senior' writers. The simplicity of tasks can often release the inner child.

That's so true David about adaptability and your inner child. The new one I am working on for K-6 is very much like "random acts of kindness" for high schoolers and developing a sense of self. My Christmas Writing Centers were very popular, partly because they were open ended and adaptable I guess. I really enjoy writing and a few of my products are poems and little books I've written but I also really enjoy providing in service to teachers on teaching writing. Pinterest may have what you are looking for.

I have one for up to grade 4 (Betty Crocker) and am currently working on a Mind/Brain unit involving writing and social learning but that will be more for grades k-6. I see you are teaching mostly high school so most of my items would not be suitable. I hope to begin sharing not only elementary but middle schoolwriting products from other sellers on my Facebook page if you would like to "like" it, you are most welcome if you would find it useful. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am in my 22nd year of teaching and I love teaching! I have taught grades 1-6 but my heart is in primary. Teaching kids to write is my specialty!
MY TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style allows students to be independent learners. I try to give them the tools they will need to be successful. Learning is personal and each student requires different strategies and skills to succeed. I try to incorporate whole class, independent and collaborate (cooperative small group) instruction. I also use auditory, visual and kinesthetic methods so that each type of learner will be able to learn.

20 year teaching award MEd. Curriculum and Instruction: Writing Development I've been asked to present on such topics as: The Write Traits Assessment in Literacy Using Technology in the Classroom Mind Up! (A Sharing Session on how Mindup has guided my teaching and created happier learners)
MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY
I received my BEd. (elementary education) and my MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction (writing development). I have presented numerous workshops on topics such as The 6 Write Traits, Assessment Strategies, Social Learning and Happiness in School.

I teach at a Demonstration school which means that I open my classroom up to local school districts and districts throughout the world monthly to demonstrate best practices in instruction and assessment in literacy.
