I purchased the teacher memes. I am trying to send the ones I want to Walgreens.com to print as posters. I tried changing the pdf to a jpg so that I could upload them to the site, but I get the "sample" across the print. Can you please tell me how I can print these?

Hi Kelli - Thanks for your purchase. The download on your computer must still be the preview download. I included all of the memes as PDF and as image files without the watermarks. Make sure you download the file from your purchases page and let it download all the way (it is VERY large, so it will take a while to download). I hope that helps! -Tracee

I have enjoyed exploring your materials. The Foldable Template pack - would you consider creating them as an editable pack similar to your editable minibooks? The previews are not clear: are they handwritten in or typed? Thank you, Linda

Tracee Orman  (TpT Seller)
Hi Linda - Sorry the preview is not clear. I see you are referring to the clip art package. The foldables are all BLANK in the clip art package and completely editable. You make it into whatever you wish. The examples I posted are how I have used them (but they will NOT have the text on them that you see in the examples). These are IMAGE files, so they will have to be placed into Microsoft Word, powerpoint, or whatever you use to create lessons. If you are looking for pre-made/pre-typed foldables, or those that are already placed and you just change the text, click on my "Interactive Notebooks" category and you'll find other resources there. I hope that helps! Make sure to read the entire product descriptions - that should help, too. --Tracee

Hello, Just found your site and materials. I am checking out your 4th and 5th grade materials. LOVE the foldables across grade levels. Some materials connected to the items with, for example, your four set booklets - which are 6th grade and higher. Would you have these available with standards for 4th and 5th grade? What about other connected materials - would you connect 4th and 5th grade standards to materials that are currently 6th and higher? I am exploring more of your materials! Thank you, Linda

Hi Linda - Thanks so much for your interest! I have considered altering my content for 4-5th grades (I do have a few specifically for those grade levels), but it's also taking me a little far from my comfort zone. I haven't taught those grade levels (6th is the lowest I've taught) and my son is now in high school, so I can't even try things on him anymore. (Which makes him happy, of course!)

BUT, I have had many requests to adapt some of my more popular resources for 4-5th, and since the standards are not too far off from 6th grade, I will try! Things are very hectic for me right now, but perhaps in the next few months.

Thanks so much for your interest!

It is aligned to 6-12, but it actually follows the K-12 anchor standards. The 5th grade Literature standards are very similar to the 6th grade, so you would probably be able to use most of them. Hello, I have been teaching elementary for the last several years, I will be transitioning to high school this year. I will be teaching English (Spec Ed). I noticed you also teach spec ed. My question is how do you implement novel's into your curriculum. I'm not sure if I should read the novel during class with the audio CD. I can not let the students take the novels home. I really would like to incorporate your novel lesson plans, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tracee Orman  (TpT Seller)
Hi Diona! Wow...that is a huge transition. I team teach general English classes with our special ed. department. Typically when we read a novel, we read it aloud in class (or listen to the audio). I usually pause a few times at parts that may need further explaining or when they have questions. It really helps to read aloud even if it does take us much longer to get through a unit (we spent 9 weeks on a single novel once, but incorporated many activities and practiced numerous skills). The novels always stay in the room when we do this, but I did have some students try to sneak them out...which had never happened until I started incorporating more contemporary literature into our units. I believe the essential skills can be taught with any literature (it doesn't have to be the classics for learning to take place). If kids aren't interested in what we're reading, they aren't going to try or care as much. You can find more ideas/help on my two blogs: www.hungergameslessons.com and www.traceeorman.com. I hope that helps & good luck! -Tracee

Sorry to hear about your father, I pray he is well now! I re-downloaded the file. I will try selecting all again, I understand the desire for it to be a standard font for some people. I LOVE KG fonts and have downloaded all of them for my use.

**Edit: When I select all it selects the text boxes/tables however not the fonts that are in them. So I can select each text box/table individually and change them but not all of them at once? It could be my word version?

What if you added a secondary file with the KG font already default? That might be confusing to some purchasers? Just a thought I had.

I don't know why the events that are in the PDF aren't showing up in my word copy though. That seems strange. I'm going to start working on adding them in this week. Thanks for the update.

Hello Julio! Welcome to TpT! I use Adobe Acrobat Pro software and secure it that way. If you use a Mac, you can also secure it when you save the file (there is an advanced option when you save). I've used that a few times, but it does not give you as many options for securing. Sometimes I just need to secure the clip art, but want to allow the user to be able to copy content in order to make changes. I have no idea how to do it on a PC unless you have Adobe Acrobat Pro. There may be other ways via the web. Hope that helps! -Tracee

Hi Eileen--there is a certain percentage of quotes you can use from a book when creating a teaching/educational resource but it depends on the length of the book, number of words, etc. Usually no more than 7-10% of the actual text. For images, you must contact the copyright holder. Sometimes it is the artist and sometimes it is the publisher. For movie images, you need to contact the studio or rights-holder, as well. Unless it is someone I've already worked with, I tend to either create my own images or work with independent artists to create images for me. It seems to be easier than waiting on replies from the copyright holders. Good luck with your store! -Tracee

Tracee, I bought your Binder Organizer bundle and love it. I just wanted to let you know that, as I was printing out my edited calendar for the coming year, I found that the May calendar dates are off. I double and tripled checked on other calendars, and it is off by one day. I hope you get this here. I didn't want to post it in the product comments.
Thanks for all you do,
Elaine Waters

Hi Elaine - I looked and looked and couldn't find it, then realized it was the May calendar from the vertical Word doc (the PDF and Word horizontal files have the right dates). I just corrected and re-uploaded, so go ahead and re-download the file and you should have the right one! Sorry about that! -Tracee

Would the bellringers and exit slips be appropriate for 10th grade? I am trying to decide from the preview if they are too "elementary" or not. I am on a limited budget with only a couple of years of teaching under my belt. I appreciate the advice before I purchase it. Thanks!

Hi, Tracee. I hope your dad is better! I was wondering if you just have Exit Slips (NOT bundled with bell ringers) available? I tried searching your store, but TPT doesn't have the best search engine...

Thank you!

Hi Jane! Thanks so much for your interest (and concern for my dad! We just brought him back to our house tonight.). What I call bell ringers/exit slips can be used as either/or. I sometimes use the activities at the beginning of class, then other times at the end. I don't actually have any that are labeled as one or the other since they could be used as both. I hope that makes sense! Thanks again! -Tracee

Thank you Tracee, I did look again and I still don't see any events on the editable calendar. I can add them, it's not really a problem, I was just comparing it to last years calendar and there were more dates already input. I love the product even though I'm a primary teacher.

Also, if you have one that is already in KG Seven Sixteen could you add it to the file? It would just save a little work to change all the tables to the nicer font. Thanks

No problem, Mrs. Hall! I'm in the hospital with my dad right now for an unexpected stay, but will get to it as soon as I can! Thanks so much for your patience! -Tracee

Update: I just got back home tonight. I checked the file and the PDF versions have the font and date. I had some requests not to use the font on the Word versions because it might throw off the formatting for those who don't have the font. To change it, you can do a "select all" and change. It should catch everything without having to change each field of the table (that's how I changed it from KG Seven Sixteen to Arial).

Hey there! These are super cute but I need to print them off at an Office Supply store due to my school's lack of color printing. It is very difficult to do "print from page __ to ___" in a store like this, so I was wondering how I could delete some pages from the document so I could only print off the pages that I need? I just need 1 label from each color of chevron background! Thanks for your help!

Hi Hannah - I will try to look at it when I return home tomorrow, if that's OK. I'm with my dad who is in the hospital. Wish I could do more for you right now. So sorry! -Tracee

UPDATE: Hi Hannah - I'm not sure I understand what you need. There isn't security on the Word, Pages, and PDF files. You can do a "Save As..." and make a duplicate file, then just delete the pages from the new file that you don't need. Or just delete them on your file and re-download the zipped folder from TpT for the originals. I hope that makes sense.

So sorry you are having problems! I have no idea why you got that message, but I tried downloading and it worked for me. Perhaps try a different browser, refresh the page, or clear your cache. Of course, I have no idea if any of those things will work. The August prompts are included in the Preview for my "A Year of Journal Writing Prompts," so you can try downloading that free preview file to get these. I hope one of these options works for you! -Tracee

Hi Tracee,
I follow your pages on Pinterest and I saw a post for a Vocabulary Analysis Mini book. Then I saw on Teacherspayteachers that you have 5 sepeperate mini books: Figurative Language, Vocabulary, Story Elements, Plot Elements, and Theme Analysis. My question is do you have all of these in a package that I could purchase?

Thanks so much, you produce wonderful resources.

I love your product, but I teach 1st grade:). Anyhow, in my grade we have the students write about their favorite part/opinion piece. Is there anyway this could be edited for first grade. I am trying to incorporate technology lingo into the classroom, and I thought it would making writing an opinion piece fun. Please let me know what you think. Thank you for your time! Janet

I love your calendars and resources and am so happy to have found this bundle. I think it's going to help a lot this year!

I found the bundle because I bought your 2013-2014 calendar last year and loved that it was editable and already had a lot of the normal holidays and dates already in the calendar. Along with a small image of the prior and future month. I'm noticing the editable copy for 2014-2015 doesn't have any of those features? I love being able to add things as I need to, however having the basics was fab.

Are you going to update with that on the calendar for next school year, just wondering before I start working on it to get it up to where I would like it.

Thanks

Hi Mrs. Hall! I had problems with Word transferring the mini calendars to each page, but can just screen shot them and add them as images. I did include the holidays and dates in the editable version, though. I wonder why they aren't showing up on yours? I will update the calendar soon. -Tracee

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching at my current public high school for twelve years, and have a total of 16 years experience. Most of my experience is teaching high school English and journalism classes; however, for several years I taught an art history class. I teach all levels--from honors students to special education students; therefore, I'm constantly modifying my assignments to fit my students' needs.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I will never stop trying to foster creativity and critical thinking in my classroom no matter how many practice standardized tests I must give. In my opinion, it is just as (if not more) important to graduate students who can think independently and creatively as it is to graduate students who can score well on a two-day test in three subject areas.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1994, double-majoring in English and Mass Communications & Journalism. After teaching in a small school in a special education classroom, I decided to go back to school to earn my teaching endorsement. My roles in education have included being a librarian, middle school English & reading, middle school special ed., and for the past twelve years as a high school English and journalism teacher with about six years of art history thrown in there, as well.
