After teaching third grade in Virginia, I moved to Pennsylvania and got a job as a reading specialist for my current school district. I teach reading to the Title I kids in my building, kindergarten through 5th grade.
I love to use hands-on materials and lessons for my students. I also use many centers to reinforce the skills that I have taught. I find that the students enjoy center activities because it seems to the students like they are playing instead of learning! I love to have students work together and collaborate as must as possible.
I was a member of the following organizations: Phi Kappa Phi (Honor Society- top 5% of University population), Kappa Delta Pi (Education Honor Society), and Phi Sigma Pi (National Honor Fraternity).
I attended elementary through high school in a large school district outside of Philadelphia. In 2008, I graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary Education. Then, I returned to school in 2009 to obtain my master's degree as a Reading Specialist. I graduated from the Master's program in 2011.
In addition to teaching, I love scrapbooking. I have an entire room in our house dedicated as my "craft room!" I love using my Cricut machine to make cards and scrapbook pages. In addition to teaching, tutoring, and TpT, I am also the head cheerleading coach for my district's high school. I enjoy spending the rest of my free time with my wonderful husband and my adorable dog, Zoe (a spoiled Yorkie/Bichon mix)! Recently, I have added creating wonderful resources for my TpT store to my hobbies!
