I have been an educator for 18 years; I am currently serving as a Coach in a K-5 elementary school. I also teach an education course at the graduate level. Five years ago, I founded Star Teacher Workshops, a company that presents workshops and provides consultation service for preschools and elementary schools. I love working with little ones to adults. Writing has always been a passion, so I decided to combine my love of writing with my love of education. This is how I found TpP and the wonderful service it provides. Nothing improves education like teachers sharing resources and ideas.
I believe in an approach to teach that is meaningful, connected to real-life and engaging. Learners have their own comfort zones and styles; teachers must honor these learning styles in order to promote success. Engaging, interesting activity, presented by the teacher as facilitator, leads to a collaborative learning environment where learning becomes a reciprocal process. I never go into a lesson thinking "I've got this one down." If I remain open to new possibilities, I gain insight into lessons, concepts and activities-even if I've done them fifty times before. The best learning happens when you keep your eyes, ears, mind and heart open.
