This is my 8th year teaching 5th grade and I have really enjoyed the ride! For the last 7 years I was a reading teacher in a departmentalized 5th grade but this year we decided to compartmentalize in order to maximize instruction time. I was scared to death about the change but have never been one to back out of challenge. It has been a blessing in disguise and I am enjoying it. It has been nice to stretch out into the other subjects and get to know my homeroom class even better. My only regret is that there are 2 other classes of 5th graders that I will not really get to know.
I love doing hands-on group work, smartboard, interactive, technology- driven, fun lessons. I use AVID techniques to help scaffold lower readers.

I have a bachelors in Child and Family Studies with a minor in Art. I am certified PreK-8th.
I have three amazing beautiful children that are my everything. My son will be 6 at Christmas, my first daughter will be 4 at Thanksgiving (we hit all the major holidays) and my newest bundle of joy turned 1 in July.
