Zack Palmer  (TpT Seller) re: Middle/High School Personal Finance Project
How Americanized is this unit? Of course some of the statistics say "American", but other than that, can it be adapted successfully for other cultures? I'm an international teacher using a Canadian curriculum in Asia. Thanks!

My project goes through what a typical American college grad will need and spend money on. The first part covers the cost of car ownership (payments, insurance, maintenance, gasoline). The second part covers living expenses such as housing and utilities. The project then goes on to cover other basic expenses such as clothing, cell phone, and student loans. I also cover entertainment expenses like dating and hanging out with friends. The last part covers the cost of a vacation. I then have the students adding up all their expenses and then calculating how much disposable income they have. These numbers are based on information I found on the Internet specifically for the state of California. I think it can work for other cultures. You may need to change some sections such as car ownership because some countries are not focused on car ownership like people in California. Please ask further questions if I have not covered anything you are still wondering about.
