In the directions it says something about a poster assignment - but I didn't see a poster assignment. Did I miss that?
Kids enjoyed the packet - had teams assign team members to do different portions and share - not quite so intimidating that way in a short time frame which we are in right now.
Anyway, excellent program.

I used this with my 4th grade students and had to modify it a little bit. It was a little confusing for them. The cities turned out amazing, but it took a LOT of guidance on my part.

While there were some good ideas, some of the activity suggestions were a bit weak or not thorough. We are currently in the process of updating this product to align to the Common Core State Standards (it already aligns to the CCSS but we will be more specific). I don't know if you read my first email closely enough. My apologies if I wasn't clear. I asked whether "Guided Reading 10 Day Activity Packet (5 pages)" is in "Guided Reading worksheets and activities (38 pages) for any novel!" but maybe identified differently. I purchased the latter ("Guided Reading worksheets and activities (38 pages) for any novel!") and don't want to purchase the CD if I don't have to.
Unfortunately, I am on a tight schedule and cannot wait for a CD to come in the mail. The school that I got the long-term sub position at gave me this guided reading program as I started last week and has given me nothing to work with. So I am trying to find stuff to start with on Monday. There really wasn't a program before I took this long term position, so I am working from scratch as a 1st year teacher. Any suggestions on how to go about this would be appreciated.

The 10-day activity is included in the CD but not this resource. There are some activities included in what you bought that you could use for any novel (Universal Novel Activities folder). What we do with guided reading is break the kids into smaller groups based on their reading levels. Then we choose novels from the classroom/school/district and assign to the different groups. We use the universal guides provided in what you purchased. We also use graphic organizers (also included in what you purchased). The Challenge University is maybe something you may want to try with your class. Otherwise, if you are really strapped for time, print off one of the graphic organizers and do a read aloud to the class until you get organized. Hope this helped you. Wise Guys

When I opened the PDF, I did not get the cards WITH the strategy description. All the cards have is the strategy name, a picture and the #of the standard. I thought from the example that each card came with a paragraph description. I would either like those cards or my money refunded. Just wanted to say a big Thank You for posting Native Americans Myths and Misconceptions. Frankly, I have been stunned to see so many teacher-produced materials on TPT - particularly at the K-3 level - that promote the same old stereotypes and other misinformation on Native peoples and native cultures (e.g. teepees [tipis] in Thanksgiving units), inappropriate, disrespectful images (e.g. Anglo children dressed in Native regalia) and even the "Ten Little Indians" song included in one unit. I will be recommending your teaching materials to my colleagues.

You are my favorite seller, especially when it comes to common core aligned materials. I love your novel unit bundles that are common core aligned. Have you thought of doing one for The Cricket in Times Square? Others that I would be interested in are Poppy, and the BFG.
