I've been doing the teaching thing for six years in all kinds of different positions: computer teacher, academic support/Title I, long term substitute, and most recently first grade teacher.
I believe that the classroom needs to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of a child and guide him/her towards independence. A workshop style classroom in conjunction with the philosophy of the Responsive Classroom best describes my style. My goal is to effectively and efficiently differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of children while also helping them grow as problem solvers and critical thinkers. A bit of a challenge, right??? I am constantly growing and learning about how kids learn best!

I love what I do, and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life. I work with the most caring, creative, and innovative educators who have helped me grow as a teacher. I am making a valiant effort to chronicle my teacher "adventures" and ideas in this blog: http://workshopclassroom.blogspot.com/ I *love* creating materials on the computer that enhance the lesson! Please leave me a rating or feedback so I can make adjustments as needed!
