I watched both YouTube videos and am confused what to do with the 2nd page where the kids write their examples? is this designed to make 2 separate books...one with the pre printed examples and one with their own info or how do they go together? If I print double sided, the back side doesn't show. Thanks. I am feeling like my 3 college degrees are failing me here. Lol.

I just downloaded these and am finding that the font makes it a little bit difficult to read. I love the decorative font, but I wondered if there was any way you could change the font to one that is not dotted so that the students can see them more clearly? Thanks so much! These are terrific!!

Hi Jill. Welcome to TPT! For the preview, I just used Microsoft Word. After I finished the product, I saved it as a PDF. Open the PDF file and under the edit tab you will see a tool that is called "take a snapshot." I use that to snapshot the page and go back Microsoft Word and hit paste and there is your PDF page. I send the picture behind text and move and size it to fit all the pages of the product. I snapshot one picture at a time, and paste it to MW. I normally use the standard letter size. Once all the pages are on the sheet, I insert a text box and type the words preview and size it according (make sure the shape outline and fill of the text box are set to none). I save it as a word document for my future reference, but the one I put on TPT I make it a PDF file. I hope this helps and you will be able to make the preview sheet. If you need any other help you can send me another message. Thanks for the compliment on the metacognition unit..you should get it! ;) I am in the process of finishing a schema unit hopefully that will be up in my store in a few weeks.

I would order these but I don't want to use materials where the fonts are incorrect for first grade. For example, the word I written i as well as the disproportionate sized letters. Can you possibly make some that are change some of the fonts? I had a few kids last year that it really messed up when I was still teaching the difference between lowercase and uppercase letters. Not criticizing, just suggesting!

I actually understand exactly what you are saying. I recently changed positions and will be our school's intervention specialist this year (working with k-5 students). So I have had to rethink the fonts I use for the younger grades. I actually already had this in Kristin font...I uploaded it as an editable edition of the graphic organizers. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I started my career in teaching in the second grade. I taught second grade for four years. I moved to teaching fourth grade. While teaching 4th grade, I got my Masters in Reading and I currently am an Intervention Specialist. I primarily assist at-risk students in reading. I also provide additional assistance to students in math as well.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I believe in a balanced literacy classroom. It is so important for literacy to be the main focus of the classroom. Activities need to be student centered and engaging. I feel that we need to model, model, model a skill to students, have interactive lessons, and have students independently practice the skill. I feel then students will truly master a skill. I want my students to truly love to learn! It brings me joy to see students grow and believe in themselves.
