Gina, Thank you for your offer. I'll let you know if I continue to need a conversion. I bought and downloaded some of your units. There are quite a few .docx and pptx in them. The activities and powerpoints I've opened are excellent... I don't want to miss a thing due to version differences. I am inspired to continue trying to patch my Mac Office 2004 despite the difficulties I have had/am having with the microsoft site xml converter download. Or buy Office 2008. You seem to have posted everything you have and actually use with students. Realistic activities, powerpoint lectures, test files... as described. I look forward to trying them out and getting back to you with very positive feedback.

I'm interested in your Chemistry units. However, I notice a few of the sample downloads say .docx I know .docx is a problem for many of us in many school districts and at home with little funds to upgrade our Word software. Are any/many of your files in .docx? If so, are you able to re-save them to earlier .doc versions?
I find I can sometimes open them at home with a Mac version of NeoOffice (shareware) but it's glitchy and the format can drastically change or not open. At my previous school district, with PCs, we couldn't find a workaround and had to ask the senders to re-save.

Are there typos on the yellow sheet? For instance shouldn't there be a square for 1000 m and 1 km if I wanted to convert from km to meters or vice versa? Am I just not looking at this right? I really want to try this with my kids. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes--you would need to have a 1000 m and a 1 km square if you wanted to go from m to km or vice versa. I have many more squares in the games in my classroom. I laminated them and have used them for many years. This game can be expanded for use in your classroom but it is just the basics so that is why it is a free download. In my game I have about 50 of the yellow cards per game (pair of students).

MY TEACHING STYLE
I approach teaching by allowing my students to experience the concepts that we talk about in class. There tends to be lots of inquiry and critical thinking in my classroom. I expect my students to work up to their full potential in the classroom. In my classroom I use a combination of PowerPoint presentations, cooperative group activities, and labs.
