You should consider it! I would say that most sellers do it, and you can also post your sale on the TPT Facebook page, and you'll attract lots of buyers that way (I know that I personally always browse new stores when I see sales posted on the FB page). Free advertising - just a thought :)

Hi There!

I teach 8th grade English and absolutely LOVE your resources :) I've got several of your items in my cart, but I just wanted to see if you were going to offer any promo codes or "black Friday" coupons over the holidays before I purchase? If so, I would love to hold off and then perhaps add a few more goodies to my cart with the money saved. If not, I'll go ahead and purchase fewer items now.

Thanks for sharing your fantastic items on TPT!

Thanks for the compliment, and the "Black Friday" idea is something I never thought of. But go ahead and purchase away, because I don't think my prices can get lower.

Best,
Brad

I am going to be teaching "A Raisin in the Sun" for the first time this fall and just bought your unit resources. I glanced through and I don't see any guide to sequencing or suggestions for sequencing. This would be really helpful. Am I wrong or is that not there?

Not there. It's been my practice with my items not to dictate a map or sequence for teaching the tools; you know your students best, after all.

1. The diagnostic test can be anything you want to use in the doc: a practice test, clumps of practice items, etc.
2. Yes.
3. This is the beginning of the Practice Test, sorry. Just insert a page break and you should be fine.
4. If you'd like additional exercises for the things you mentioned (e.g., run-ons, fragments, etc.), email me at mrcawn@hotmail.com and I'll send them to you.

Hello. I am the parent of a home-school student in Maryland who is about to begin the 11th grade. I am very impressed with your novel study products. The one issue that has been problematic for me has been the grading of essays, papers, and other assignments that are not objective in nature. While I grade using standard rubrics, grading is still a source of tension between my daughter and I. To that end, I am wondering if you would consider providing an assignment grading service for some of the subjective assignments that are included in the products you sell on this site. I would happily pay you an hourly rate for your work, as I think it would be much easier to simply have someone who regularly grades these assignments for whole classes do the grading. That way I could assign the work, and my daughter could not consider me the "bad guy" with respect to any grading comments or decisions that are made.

Please reply here, or email me at bajdmba@gmail.com if you have any interest.

Thanks!

Hi, there are, if I remember correctly, 3-4 comma questions, 2 dangling/misplaced modifiers, 2 parallelism questions, 2 possessive/apostrophe questions, 3 pronoun reference and antecedents, 2 semicolons/colons questions, 2 s-v agreeement questions, and 2 verb forms and tenses on the diagnostic.

I am looking for a grammar diagnostic test for a homeschool extension program for advanced students. The areas we would like to test are as follows: adj/adv usage, capitalization, commas, diction, dangling/misplaced modifiers, faulty comparisons, parallelism, possessive/apostrophes, pronoun case, pronoun reference and antecedents, semicolons/colons, s-v agreeemnt, and verb forms and tenses. Does your diagnostic test cover these?

Hi, please email me directly (mrcawn@hotmail.com) and let me know what you need an answer key for--I presume it's the grammar review--and I'll email it back to you.

Thanks!

I've have purchaced some of your lessons and I was wondering if you have an answer key? I am planning for an extended absence and I was hoping that those would be included. I can go through and make my own, but if you have any already I would be more than willing to buy those as well. Things are tough because I have 3 preps and I am also a coach. Teaching is hard! Let me know.

I just purchased your "Massive Grammar Review" download. Could you please send me an answer key? Also, the two 30-question assignments at the end of the document (separated by the blank student response page) are not marked. Are they meant to be pre- and post-tests? Please respond ASAP--school starts on Thursday! Thanks.

Beth:

Thanks for your interest....the answer is, of course, that it depends. When I did the assignment this past spring, I required certain types of sources--statistics, expert testimony, examples, etc.--so if you wanted them to use research to sculpt a persuasive argument, it would work; as a process research document, however, there's not a whole lot of process to it--a few days of brainstorming/prewriting, a day or two gathering evidence, revision, etc. I also want them to keep it short--no longer than 400/500 words--so if you're shooting for a certain length, this may not be the assignment.

If you're shooting for a slightly more formal research process I have two offer things on the site that might suit you: a problem-solution essay unit and a debate unit. In both cases, the unit has a required research document and an essay prior to performance or authentic assessment.

let me know if I can help

Hi Brad. I have to assign a research paper (MLA format) for my 11th graders this fall. Do you think your Persuasion/Editorial would help me? Would the finished product you have planned be an essay, or longer? Thanks. Beth

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught English at high schools in the Chicago suburbs and currently teach as an adjunct Comp/rhetoric instructor at area community colleges. I'm also currently a curriculum and assessment consultant and have worked with ACT, NAGB, McGraw Hill, MacNeil Lehrer Productions, Scott Foresman, and more.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My pedagogy is creative but learning-focused. I prize scalability and accessibility, and adapt my own lesson plans constantly; I never teach the same way--or same content--twice.

These units will be organized and structured for immediate classroom use; you'll be able to enact my units with little prep work. The material is really excellent!
