Ali S. re: Inquiry Geography Unit
Hi, After reading the description for this resource I am so excited! But, I did notice that it was created for upper grades. I teach second grade. I was wondering if you think it is doable to modify it for the younger grades?
Thanks!

I'm so glad that you're excited about this unit! I have only taught it with upper grades, but it would definitely be one that you could modify. Some of the tasks would be fine with Grade 2 kids anyway. Let me know how it goes!

Hi, well, it would be great if you could email it to me. Can you access my details? I'd rather not list my email on this page. I just want to make sure I have the file I paid for. It may be the case that the preview you uploaded is the actual document.
Thanks

HI, I have just purchased your geography unit of inquiry, and the download I got is exactly the same as the free preview. Can you please confirm whether in fact the free preview is the document you are also selling? Or whether I downloaded the wrong file? he document I paid for is 17 pages long.
Thanks.

Hi, the document is definitely 17 pages long! The preview is different. Are you able to try to download again? If not, I'm happy to email it to you.

I am open to getting anything from you. Maybe a picture of old work from the past or a picture in the future when you do it again. I am a visual person so I always love to have examples whenever possible -especially for students who sometimes need a jumping off point for a presentation idea.

I was wondering if you have an example of the Dream House math project completed that I could get from you?

Hi Dawn,
I haven't used the Dream House project since early last year, so unfortunately I don't have a work sample for you. What are you interested in seeing? In terms of the presentation, I've had the kids do different things before. Some like to create books where each page is one room of the house, others do posters or even create digital books. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I saw your store on the home page of Teachers Pay Teachers; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I left you a rating. Well done! Since you do not have many products yet, here are a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products.

Add a cover page for each of your products which can then be used as an attractive thumbnail to entice buyers. You might also add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page for the teacher. (How do use this? How do you grade them? Etc.) List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product.

Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also number your pages.

I think it is important that we see what others are doing; so, feel free to look at any or all of my freebies listed below to help you gather ideas. If you care to, I'd love to have your feedback.

Hi,
My name is Katie and I am also an Aussie teacher (from Adelaide) who sells files on TPT. Did you know there is another site similar to TPT that is only for Aussie educators? www.teachersmarketplace.com.au

It started 2 years ago and has been really taking off. I'm just letting you know because I've been selling on there too and it doesn't hurt to spread the word! I'm sure the buyers from there would really appreciate your resources too!

Cheers,
Katie

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over the past 8 years, I've taught in both Catholic and government primary schools, ranging from grade 3 to grade 6. I've also spent some time working with young Korean students at an English language school, and did some CRT work in a number of different schools. As well as being a generalist classroom teacher, I spent two years teaching PE part time. The past three years have been spent in a team-teaching situation, working with a variety of students including many PSD/integrated students and ESL/New Arrivals.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Very focused on using student data to drive my planning and teaching - no point in teaching what they already know!! I tend to use hands-on, open, real-life experiences to engage and motivate students. Peer tutoring plays a large role in my classroom, as does the use of ICT and student-negotiated curriculum. I currently team teach a class of 52 grade 5/6 students. My teaching partner and I have grouped our children for Literacy and Numeracy so that I am working with our high flyers (some extending well into Year 10 standards) and those considered 'at-risk'. This means a lot of modified programs and ILPs. My main goal is to teach the Integrated students the life skills they need to succeed in the real world. Plus I'm often found performing a random jig in the middle of a lesson. Just to keep them alert...

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I completed a 4 year double degree in Arts and Education at ACU Melbourne. At the moment I'm in the process of applying for further study in the area of Mathematics, particularly focusing on intervention and extension.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm a chronologically 29-year-old from Melbourne, Australia. 'Chronologically' because some days I feel 70, others I could be 12, and most people think I look about 17... If there's anyone interested in doing a teaching exchange between Australia and US/Canada, please contact me! I'm more than interested!!!
