OPEN TO EDUCATORS IN GRADES K-12 WHO ARE LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE FIFTY (50) UNITED STATES OR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA OVER THE AGE OF 18. VOID IN PUERTO RICO, UNITED STATES TERRITORIES AND POSSESSIONS, AND WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

WHO CAN ENTER:

The TeachersPayTeachers.com Climate Change Lesson Plan Contest ("Contest") is open to Educators in grades K-12 who are legal residents of the United States or the District of Columbia (excluding residents of Puerto Rico and the U.S. territories and possessions) over the age of 18. "Educators" are defined herein as all instructional personnel and administrators in Kindergarten through 12th grade educational institutions and Kindergarten through 12th grade home school teachers. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. The Contest is void in Puerto Rico, the U.S. territories and possessions, and where prohibited or restricted by law.

Employees of Scholastic Inc. ("Sponsor"), Scholastic Inc., its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses and those living in the same household of each employee, whether or not related) (collectively referred to as "Sponsor's Related Entities") are not eligible to participate in the Contest.

HOW TO ENTER: General Conditions of the Contest:

IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE PROPER AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST THAT EACH ENTRY MUST BE THE ENTRANT'S OWN ORIGINAL WORK AND CANNOT CONTAIN PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AND/OR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL. IF SPONSOR OR SPONSOR'S RELATED ENTITIES DISCOVER AT ANY TIME, DURING OR AFTER THE CONTEST, THAT AN ENTRY CONTAINED PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED AND/OR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL, THE EDUCATOR WHO SUBMITTED THE ENTRY WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED AND WILL BE OBLIGATED TO IMMEDIATELY RETURN ANY AND ALL PRIZES WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO HIM/HER IN CONNECTION WITH HIS/HER ENTRY.

The only way to enter the Contest is by submitting an entry online at www.TeachersPayTeachers.com/contest (the "Website") between January 20, 2008, 12:00 a.m. EST and April 30, 2008, 11:59 p.m. EST. Registration for the Contest will automatically register you on TeachersPayTeachers.com and is required even if you are currently a registered user of TeachersPayTeachers.com. Entries must consist of a lesson plan that either teaches about Climate Change directly or uses Climate Change as a central theme through which to teach standard skills in a subject area. For example, math teachers could teach about fractions, arithmetic or ratios using temperature fluctuation data; science teachers could teach a wide variety of skills in the fields of meteorology, geology or biology as related to Climate Change; and art teachers could instruct students to depict their vision of earth in 30 years as it may be altered by Climate Change. Entries must be submitted for one of three (3) grade categories: K-5, 6-8 or 9-12. Eligible entries will be posted on TeachersPayTeachers.com. Up to five (5) different entries may be accepted per person. To submit additional lesson plans after your first entry, you may log in from the TeachersPayTeachers.com/contest home page with your username and password. Mechanically reproduced entries, mailed in entries, or any form of entry which does not comply with the proper manner to enter the Contest set forth above, are prohibited and all such entries are void. Use of any automated entry device is prohibited and all such entries are void. Additionally, each entry must be in keeping with the Sponsor's image and may not be offensive or inappropriate, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Furthermore, an entry may not defame or invade publicity rights or the privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or property rights or any other third party rights. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry it deems to be offensive, inappropriate, or not in keeping with the Sponsor's image, in its sole discretion. All entries and all rights to winning entries become the sole property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees that the Sponsor shall own the entry submitted (including all rights embodied therein in winning entries) and that the Sponsor and its designees may exploit, edit, publish, use, adapt, modify, or dispose of any entry and elements embodied therein, online, in print, film, television, or in any other media now or hereafter known for advertising, promotional, or other purposes throughout the world, in perpetuity, without additional compensation or notification to, or permission of, the entrant, except as prohibited by law. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor's reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest, to be acting in violation of these official rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

JUDGING: In order to be considered for a prize, an entry must receive an average user rating of at least a "B" grade and receive one of the top ten (10) average user ratings on TeachersPayTeachers.com for the relevant grade category by May 31, 2008, 11:59 EST. Users of TeachersPayTeachers.com may rate posted entries by grading them according to the following criteria:

For the purposes of determining rankings, grades are equivalent to the following numbered ratings.

A = 4.0

B = 3.0

C = 2.0

D = 1.0

F = 0.0

A cumulative grade point average, or rating, for each entry will be displayed on a per-rater basis. After each rater clicks the VOTE button for a particular entry, that rater's cumulative rating will be averaged with all other users' cumulative ratings for that lesson plan. The average cumulative rating for each lesson plan will be posted on TeachersPayTeachers and continually updated. The ten (10) lesson plans in in each grade category that receive the highest average user ratings by May 31, 2008, 11:59 p.m. EST will be reviewed by Sponsor's panel of expert judges. If there are more than 10 entries with the same top score(s) in any one grade category, a "tie-breaking" judge will determine the 10 finalists in the applicable grade category based on the rating criteria set forth above. From each pool of finalists, the panel will determine the three (3) potential winners in each grade category according to the rating criteria set forth above. In the event of a tie, an additional "tie-breaking" judge will determine the winner of the applicable prize in the applicable grade category based on the same criteria. Sponsor reserves the right not to award all prizes if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of qualified and eligible entries. Potential winners in each category will be notified by email and/or phone on or about July 1, 2008.

PRIZES: Three (3) prizes will be awarded in each grade category as set forth below. Each winner will be given the choice of the applicable cash prize or Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points. Grades K-5: One (1) first prize of either One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) or 50,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (Approximate Retail Value: $1,000); one (1) second prize of either Five Hundred Dollars ($500) or 25,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $500); and one (1) third prize of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) or 10,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $200). Grades 6-8: One (1) first prize of either One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) or 50,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $1,000); one (1) second prize of either Five Hundred Dollars ($500) or 25,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $500); and one (1) third prize of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) or 10,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $200). Grades 9-12: One (1) first prize of either One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) or 50,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $1,000); one (1) second prize of either Five Hundred Dollars ($500) or 25,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $500); and one (1) third prize of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) or 10,000 Scholastic Book Club Bonus Points (ARV: $200). Total combined ARV of all prizes: $5,100.

GENERAL PRIZE AND AWARD CONDITIONS: Each prize winner and/or award recipient is solely and completely responsible for any and all federal, state, and local taxes on the prize and/or award, as applicable. Each winner will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release ("Affidavit and Release") within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the Affidavit and Release or the prize may be forfeited and, at Sponsor's sole discretion, awarded to another winner.

No substitutions, transfers, or assignments of prizes or awards are allowed, except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize or award (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion. If any potential winning entrant fails to comply with all requirements as set forth in these official rules or refuses or is unavailable to accept a prize, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify such potential winning entrant and, at its sole discretion, award the prize to another winner, as applicable. By accepting the prize, each winner grants to Sponsor and its designees the right to use his or her name, likeness, hometown, and biographical information (including grade and school name), for purposes of advertising and promotional purposes in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity without further notice, permission, or compensation, except where prohibited by law. One or more winners may also be required to attend and participate in media and/or public relations events ("Media Events") designated by Sponsor and/or requested by various media outlets. Upon Sponsor's request, and subject to winner's availability, each winner agrees to participate in such Media Events without further compensation. Sponsor shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to choose the winners it wishes to participate in such Media Events. By accepting the prize, all winners, whether or not chosen to participate in such Media Events, agree to release Sponsor and Sponsor's Related Entities and hold each of them harmless, from any claims relating to their selection, non-selection, participation or non-participation in any Media Events.

DISCLAIMER: The Sponsor and Sponsor's Related Entities shall not be liable for any injury/damage/loss/expense/accident/delay/inconvenience/irregularity that may be caused or contributed to by any wrongful, negligent or unauthorized act or omission on the part of any other person or entity not an employee of Sponsor or Sponsor's Related Entities, or by other cause, condition or event whatsoever beyond the control of any of the Sponsor or Sponsor's Related Entities. The Sponsor and Sponsor's Related Entities are not responsible or liable for, and will deem ineligible, Contest entries that are entered by other than human means (such as by an automated computer program or any non-human mechanism, entity, or device), or for Contest entries that are illegible, late, destroyed, delayed, lost, misplaced, stolen, misdirected, tampered with, forged, incomplete, deleted, damaged, or otherwise not in compliance with these official rules and all such Contest entries will be disqualified. By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees and acknowledges to be bound by these official rules, as well as by the decisions of the Contest judges which are final and binding in all respects and to waive any rights to claim ambiguity with the official rules. Each entrant further agrees and acknowledges that the Sponsor and the Sponsor's Related Entities shall have no responsibility or liability (including, but not limited to, liability for any property loss, damage, personal injury or death) in connection with: any participation in this Contest (including, but not limited to, any prize which may be awarded in the Contest); human error; incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information; acceptance/possession and/or use/misuse of any prize awarded herein, any technical malfunctions of a computer online system, computer dating mechanism, computer equipment, software, internet service provider; interruption or inability to access the Website, or any online service via the internet due to hardware or software compatibility problems; any damage to entrant's (or any third person's) computer and/or its contents related to or resulting from any part of this Contest; any lost/delayed/duplicate/multiple data transmissions, omissions, interruptions, defects and/or any other errors or malfunctions, even if caused by the negligence of the Sponsor or Sponsor's Related Entities.

RELEASE: By entering the Contest, entrant agrees to forever release and hold harmless Sponsor and Sponsor's Related Entities (collectively, the "Released Parties"), from any and all claims, injuries, damages, or losses to the person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise from participation in this Contest or acceptance or use of a prize (including any travel related hereto). In the event the Contest is compromised by non-authorized human intervention, virus, bugs, or other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness, or proper play of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify, suspend, or terminate the Contest or any portion thereof and/or terminate the participation of any participant (and void his/her entry) whose conduct potentially compromises the Contest and at its sole discretion to award the prizes from among all eligible non-suspect entries received prior to termination using the judging procedures outlined above. Each entrant acknowledges and agrees that the Released Parties are not responsible for interrupted or unavailable network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections; for lack of availability or accessibility, or miscommunications due to failed computer, satellite, telephone, or cable transmissions or lines; for technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions; for computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; or for any other computer, network, technical, typographical, human or other error, problem, or malfunction related to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors, problems, or malfunctions that may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the prizes, the processing or judging of entries, or any Contest-related materials. Each entrant further acknowledges and agrees that the Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest and assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to participants' or to any other persons' computer (whether hardware or software), relating to or resulting from downloading materials or software in connection with this Contest.

ELIGIBILITY: Open only to U.S. educators who are legal residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico and Rhode Island), and 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. "Educators" are defined herein as all instructional personnel and administrators in Kindergarten through 12th grade educational institutions and Kindergarten through 12th grade home school teachers. Employees, officers, and directors of Scholastic Inc. and its affiliates and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies, their immediate families and those living in their households are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law and in Rhode Island and Puerto Rico. Subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: To enter the Sweepstakes, fill out the on-line Sweepstakes registration form (the "Form") at www.teacherspayteachers.com/contest/plans.php. Completion of the Form will automatically enter you in the Sweepstakes. Completion of the Form is the only means of entering the Sweepstakes. The Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (United States) on January 21, 2008 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (United States) on May 31, 2008. YOU MAY ONLY ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES ONLINE, NO OTHER METHOD OF ENTRY WILL BE ACCEPTED. All entries become the exclusive property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for (a) late, lost, damaged, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, or postage-due entries; (b) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer failures of any kind; or (c) failed, incomplete, garbled, unintelligible, or delayed computer messages. PRIZES: Twenty-one (21) prizewinners will be randomly selected from the pool of entries. Ten (10) winners will each receive approximately $20 worth of video products related to the subject of climate change and ten (10) winners will each receive approximately $20 worth of Scholastic climate change books (prize values are based on suggested retail list price). One grand prize winner will be selected to receive both the video and book products (Approximate Retail Value: Forty Dollars ($40.00)). Total approximate retail value of all prizes combined: Four Hundred Forty Dollars ($440.00). No substitution or transfer of prizes is permitted by the winners. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. After SponsorÂ’s reasonable attempt to award prizes, any unclaimed prizes will not be awarded, and Sponsor may, in its discretion, elect to donate such prizes to charity. PRIZE DRAWING: The winners of the Sweepstakes will be determined by a random drawing on or about May 15, 2008 and the winners will be notified by e-mail and/or phone on or about the same date. Winners will have fourteen (14) days from notification to accept the prize by e-mail. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner. If a winner does not respond to notification of winner status within fourteen (14) days from notification, or if the winner does not meet qualification criteria, Sponsor reserves the right to select an alternate winner. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of a person submitting an on-line entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the e-mail address at the time of entry. ODDS OF WINNING: The odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received by the Sweepstakes deadline.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: If the administration or integrity of the Sweepstakes is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Sweepstakes. Sponsor and its agencies shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from entering the Sweepstakes. Sponsor is not responsible for any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry, nor are they responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, computer lines failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Sweepstakes. Entrants agree that the decisions of Sponsor related to this Sweepstakes and all drawings are final.
