In this product from The Industrious Bee you will find a self-regulating behavior checklist which accompanies the book "My Mouth is a Volcano". Students use visual cues from the teacher to mark a chart when they have blurted out or interrupted in the classroom. If they interrupt three times within a day, they can fill in a reflection page to take ownership of their behavior and consider how they will control their interruptions in the future.
Student engagement check!These two visual cues are a great way to check for student understanding, without taking away from a discussion or activity. While discussing or introducing, if you see a student showing 'Wordy Birdy' with their finger beaks, you know they understand and/or have a contribution (without blurting).
